We went there last Saturday on our way up to NY state. We dressed our 6yo in snow pants inherited from my niece who lived in Lowville, NY at that age. It's not warm inside a barn full of ice. People wearing a light jacket, jeans, and sneakers were doing a lot of foot stomping and didn't stick around long. Dress for being OUTSIDE in WINTER before you go!
We couldn't pry our daughter out of there until the slide attendant said she couldn't slide on her knees after about the 12th time on the slide. Then after we were north of Binghamton she wanted to go back. Maybe next year, little one...
As far as we could tell the ice structures WERE all ice, except for the stairs up to the ice slide. There's definitely a cost to all that water, the refrigeration, and of course the artistry. Bearing that in mind it was about what we expected.
The people there did seem fairly happy and there was a good size but not jammed crowd. There was enough space in the parking lot for someone to drive in who was looking for a flea market.
