Default Martha Stewarts dog dies in Lehighton explosion...

I was so very saddened to read the news today that Martha Stewarts dog and others......seventeen dogs total, lost there lives in a propane tank explosion. 15 immediately, and two over the weekend.
Apparently, they are saying it was from a spark or static.

The propane deliverer, even though badly burned still tried to save a dog by tossing this dog ( cairn terrier) over a fence.

The driver is in critical condition at the Lehigh Hospital.

Martha Stewarts dog was the grandson of Paw Paw who died at 12 years old. Its name was Ghangis Khan and she introduced him on her show not that long ago.

This Lehighton kennel accident was at Pazzazz Pet Boarding which boards, breeds and trains dogs. Many of the dogs were the owners own show breeds.

I hope we keep this AmeriGas driver in our thoughts and prayers......even though he was critically burned he tried to save a pet......bless his heart.
( Mr Kleinhogen)

It is sad that this freak accident had to involve the driver and the loss of beloved pets.

This also gives one a thought as to how close their tank is to their home or other valuable assets... It is making me think again, that distance is a good thing. Pay for that copper line to go outwards from your home.

The pictures of the kennel are quite disturbing. The driver is really in sad shape and its amazing he tried to save some animals.
Reading the second article I see that the police and firefighters also tried to do some rescues.
The pets were taken to Creature Comforts in Saylorsburg.. and three are still there. The two died this weekend and one went home. They are taking donations for their care.
I always feel so heartwarmed by a place that would take in the dogs.....and work on them.....
I've known a few over the years that turned injured pets away......

That's awful! Propane scares me, when I moved into my home, I replaced the gas stove with an electric one. I just didn't like the thought of that tank on the side of the house next to my bedroom. Nah, didn't sit well with me so I converted. Of course now I have an all electric house (including heat) and one of the nation's highest cost electricity providers, but I still wouldn't switch back.

No she isn't.........But these were breeders of Chows. Award winning Westminister Dog Show Chows. So I am just guessing, but I imagine, she got some of her Chows she so loves from them. Most likely then.....she would trust them to board her dog with.

My daughter had a gas leak at her new home in Forks. I kept walking by the side of the house and smelling gas.....
I told them they should call..........
Later we would come to find out that they didn't tighten the connections when they were done installing the meter.
What would have happened it the grill sparked those fumes........
Or a storm sparked them.....
This leak was going on for a long time. They were in the home a good year before I walked by that area.........
I guess someone was looking out for them.....nothing happened, thank god.
