HIM is a band, they are from another country, i'm not sure where, but if i'm right Bam Margara had something to do with them, i don't know what. They are really good though.

I am a concert promoter up Montage, and didnt want to rain on the parade when this thread was first created but I knew this concert would be cancelled. It wasnt a schedule problem, it was bad ticket sales.
And to Scranbarre, the reason why we have "punks" and "geezer" shows, are because these are the people buying tickets. The market for coldplay are 20-30 year olds, how many of those do we have in our area? Lets be real, concerts for teens and adults are the only ones that have a chance in our area.
And like somebody said, The killers, Franz Ferdinand, and Modest Mouse wouldnt sell out the cultural center. They dont have a big enough following around here, just like coldplay.

It's just unfortunate that for those of us in this "middle of the gap" crowd there is so little available in our region. You go to a local bar to hear a friend's band play, and you come out reeking of smoke with watery eyes. I loved seeing M-80 play at Old Tyme Charley's in Plains with friends of mine back in November, but the crowd was generally older and the smoke was oppressive. If you truly want to see a headline concert for those in your age group then you must drive to Philadelphia or New York City. One thing I'll like about my new area is that there will be a plethora of younger people. I never really realized this until Wolfman pointed it out to me in another thread, but the dearth of younger people in our area is very visible to people from outside the region who come to visit. There's very, very few people here in their 20s. Most of the Coldplay demographic is yuppies (which we don't have), gay people (all of whom move away like bats out of hell), and hip elderly people (judging by how few older local people have computers I don't think many would even know what "a Coldplay" is). Hell, when I'm at work and give people web sites to reference to order parts in for items we can't order in for them, I got "How do I get on the Internet?" on more than one occasion as a reply!
The closer and closer my move comes, the more and more excited I am to FINALLY be with more younger people, more educated people, more gay people, etc. This area needs to learn how to RETAIN these folks if it wants to attract better jobs than those $9/hr. or $19,000 per year ones at Sallie Mae. Retirees and empty-nesters can only do so much to help our area boom.

Paul, you need to stop whining about older people, you do it all the time. You're going to age and when you do, maybe you won't know how to use something new that you're grandkids or kids are using. It's going to happen and it will happen fast enough, so stop whining about everything insessently and live your live, you're to young to be whining constantly about this and that. Life moves way to quick and if you continue to whine, you will be elderly before you know it and wondering how to use something new that you never heard of before.

This area needs to stop CATERING to the older crowd if it ever wants to reinvent itself into a better place for families. Everything here is geared TOWARDS people who are 40+. EVERYTHING (even the concerts as you were just told by a Montage promoter)! If you're a 22-year-old single gay professional what is there for you here? Nothing. Perhaps I wouldn't be so inclined to be so ageist if I didn't have so many negative experiences with guys 40+ aggressively hitting on me.

I don't think 40+ men hitting on you has anything to do with the area, that happens anywhere, no matter where you go. There are sick people every where, and i think it's sick when 40+ people are hitting on a 22yr old. You're right, there isn't much for a 22 yr old single gay professional in this area, so maybe where you are moving will be better for you and you will find what you are looking for. You do need to stop carrying on about older people though, it does get tiresome.
