Default Saw a magnificent sight in Duryea today!

I live right across from the Lackawanna River, and I happened to look out and see a white spot in a tree. Could it be? I got my binoculars, and YES, it was a bald eagle! I ran out with my camera, and as I was going up on the levee, the eagle swooped down into the water, caught a big (big fish in the Lackawanna River?!) fish, and flew away. Shortly after, it came back (or perhaps it was another eagle, since the first one just caught a fish?), flew at my eye level, and then it was gone. Sadly, my pictures show only a tiny white dot among the trees. It literally took my breath away!

Yes we do have bald eagles in the region, although I haven't see one on the Lackawanna river yet its a great sign of how much the river has come back. There are very large native trout in the river up to 24" in some cases and few know that a section of the river is designated a Trophy Trout section that has its own regulations in regards to the trout.

I have seen countless eagles and osprey on the Susquehanna in Lackawanna and Wyoming counties and look forward to seeing one on the Lacky.

Great report thanks for the sighting info.

Plenty of hawks, turkey and black vultures, blue heron, wood duck, mallards along the river. I have seen eagles on the lackawaxen but not on the Lackawanna. Awesome I would love to see them. Maybe in may when I paddle it.
