Default Apartments in Honesdale/Matamoras

Hello there,

My name is Noey, and I'm 22. I'm looking for apartments in Honesdale/Matamoras area, but more or less Honesdale. I like the area better and I've been there a dozen or more times with my mom. I've been looking on craigslist like crazy, but really there's nothing there that's in my price-range. I am on SSI disability, and only make $670 a month, so I can really only afford up to $300.

Does anyone know if any apartments like that exist in Honesdale? Or even low-income housing? Would really appreciate it, thank you.

What you may wish to do is go onto the Poconos and/or Scranton/Wilkes-Barre CraigsList sites (preferably BOTH since people in Wayne County claim allegiance to both regions), and post an ad under "Housing Wanted" detailing your situation. Explain that you are only able to pay $300/month and see if there are any prospective landlords who may have something that fits the bill. Also, someone with a 2 BR/1 BA place of their own may need a little help making ends meet and would probably welcome sub-leasing a bedroom in their place to someone else to not only help pay the bills but also to have some company in the evenings. I'm also a 22-year-old male on a budget (although not as tight as yours), so I can sympathize with you.

In the mean time is there anything you could do to boost your income without compromising the SSI earnings? I know something part-time that you could do from home like data entry for medical billing could give you some spare cash to burn, give you something to keep your mind occupied, and be a good way to earn your keep if it seems like your budget isn't going to cut it.

In any event best of luck and welcome to our forum!

Here's a link to the local Honesdale newspaper, The Wayne Independent. There are ads under the classifieds for apartments.
