Now THAT was a nice piece. Sure, there are some things that some people in Scranton do or say that is holding the city back from it's full potential, and one of those things is refusing to accept people who are different from them. It's only a small percentage of the people, and even of those, I think it's more of a misunderstanding than anything deliberate.
N Hyde Park Ave and it's surroundings are indeed a nicely kept "Leave it to Beaver" type neighborhood.
If you start to miss NEPA too much, just try to remind yourself that you have to do what you have to do to live. If your job is in Washington, then you have to live there. I'll be most of the immigrants who came here by the millions in the 1800s missed thier homeland immensly, but did what they did because they had to. At least you're only a couple hours away. And Washington DC has a lot of nice areas. And Arlington, in NoVa, is a nice city too, from what I've seen in 2 visits.
