Default Your favorite "Threads" list ~ Tell us why!!

OK NEPA ( and everyone welcome indeed)........What is your favorite threads? Why do you like it so much? Curious as to where we head when we are not browsing our own local territories.....
My favorites:
1.NEPA.......Especially the Pocono and Scranton regions...because I live here
2. New Jersey.....Because I lived "most" of my life there.
3. Trivia.......Because it can be a ton of fun, and fun people preside there.
4. Travel......Do I need to say why?
5. South Carolina........Myrtle Beach.....because my winters are spent there
6. Delaware.......Well, because I love the beaches, and have spent
a ton of time there. Family lives there.
7. Home and/or Real Estate Because I love decor, and I love " House Hunters" on TV.
8. Weather because I have to keep tabs on my PA home when I am in SC......and I love knowing peoples weather. Just that TX and FL make me smile...I'd take that weather forever if I could.
9.New York.. mostly the city. It is so fun and exciting...I love Broadway shows.
10. The Village...last but not least.......The Village full of fun lovin'
people. Our own Pocono has done a wonderful job there, as
well as dear Izzy.

1.) NEPA: Even though I will soon be parting ways with you all to move on to bigger and better things in life, I will still feel like Northeastern Pennsylvania is truly "home" to me, despite its drawbacks.

2.) Northern Virginia (NoVA): I've been in the center of some controversy on this sub-forum as of late (what a surprise, right?), but the people on that forum, while less numerous than those here on our forum, are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the region. I look forward to contributing there more after my move to Herndon.

3.) Pennsylvania: Every once in a while an interesting thread comes along that I just have to chime in on. I especially like threads with photos of other regions of the state or threads in which cities are competing with one another for some sort of unofficial forum "title."

4.) Pittsburgh: I hope to relocate to Squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh's East End someday, and there is a strong intellectual energy on their sub-forum. There is also an element of provincialism there along the lines of (you don't live here so butt out), but it is still a very underrated city in my opinion.

5.) General U.S.: I absolutely love going onto this forum to learn more about other parts of our great nation, and some of the "City vs. City" polls can be quite interesting as well.

6.) Great Debates: Unlike the political brou-ha-has we have here on our forum those who participate in great debates can often times take a stand on a particular issue and back it up somehow without offending others. I have learned so much from participating in that forum, and at times not only have I changed the minds of others but they too have enlightened me.

7.) Frugal Living: What an excellent new forum during our nation's economic crisis! I'm getting all sorts of tips and sage wisdom on how to make each dollar stretch further, and given my relatively low starting salary in relation to the high cost-of-living in Virginia this will prove to be providential.

8.) Iowa: This is another state that I hope to relocate to someday, and I have already begun researching Dubuque, Iowa City, and Des Moines as potential relocation destinations. Unfortunately my agency has no field offices as of yet here, but as the urbanized areas of Iowa continue to rapidly grow and potentially attract some defense contractors, my agency just might establish an office there someday.

9.) Maine: The folks on the Maine forum are so chatty (or so bored) that they've needed to start MULTIPLE chat threads because prior runs have run too long! LOL! You won't find many friendlier folks on this forum than those in that state. Our family immensely enjoyed our vacation to Maine several years ago, and I look forward to visiting Portland someday.

10.) New Jersey: I enjoy the weird environment on that forum. Many state natives gripe about politics, taxes, corruption, congestion, etc., and they are backed up by their "pals." However, if someone from another state does the same exact thing they all do a 180-degree turnaround to act as if their state is the best thing since sliced bread. It truly confuses me. It's okay to whine and kvetch about your state, but if someone else does the same it's not cool? Perhaps the Jersey folks love living in Jersey more than they'd like to admit?!

NEPA - I was considering that as a place to live, and though I've probably crossed it off my list, I've met a great many friends there, so I stay.

Long Island - Because I live here now

Pennsylvania - Because I'd still like to move to PA, but just not sure where.

Gardening - Specifically the Veggie Gardening thread - Because I love to grow my own food and because there's something awe inspiring about planting a tiny seed and being rewarded with beautiful flowers or bountiful veggies.

Philadelphia - Because it's another area of PA I'm considering for the employment potential and proximity to my family on LI.

And when I have the time, I browse the Motorcycle forums - because the warm weather is coming!

Yes, New Jersey people do love their state.........and they wear it on their sleeves.
You don't loose your love of that state after you leave it. Ah, you do always hate the taxes, and the congestion.......But the state is in your blood.
There is a lot of pride there in NJ. About many things......foods, beaches, jobs, locations, shopping...etc. You just can't take the Jersey out of ones self.......I know that to be true...
I visit New Jersey threads and I know that I've road on most of the streets.....traveled most of the highways.....the names I still recall. How about Whaleback Waddy..........Oh yes! In Cedar Lake.......
Good ole' Whale Back Waddy ( yes a street name, I tell ya' )

NEPA is always #1 for me
then I lurk on PA and Lehigh Valley.

I hit the Village in Community Chat (where all are welcome) & the Smiley thread..
& answer Karla K's Question of the Day in Other Topics.

I like the Photography forum a lot. There are different assignments for the photo bug in me...and the monthly In Your State contest.

I lurk in House, Green Living, Books...I like to be-bop around all of city-data, actually...but PA's is the only state forum I post in.

Oh my gosh.......I forgot Photography......I do like that area a lot also. It is fun to see how good the CD photographers are. Being away, my timing was all off to add a picture or two.......but........I'll get back there sooner or later. That is a grand thread!!

1) NEPA forum- 'cause the folks are so damm nice & friendly!! (for the most part....)

2) Florida forums- for obvious reasons, but I get tired of the same old whiney negativity & nastiness that's so constant there...

3) Gardening forums- again, for obvious jungle reasons.... I just wish there was a "Florida Gardening" forum, 'cause the current forum deals with 99.9% northern gardening, which is totally different from down here...

That's basically all I have time for....
