Fawn Lake/Masthope Land (rent, homes, buying)

I'm thinking about buying land in this area to build a small vacation cabin. Why are some 1/2 acre lots $8000 while other similar sized lots in same area $20,000 and up?

Are the $8000 lots decent enough to build a small say... 1000 sq/ft cabin on?

Thanks and I appreciate any other info on this area. I have not visited yet but from what I've seen on the internet it seems this area has everything I'm looking for.

Location, view, perc'd vs not perc'd, surrounding lots improved vs unimproved, could be any of many reasons for price diffs

another question. How well do homes in this area rent out to vacationers. Just wondering if I bought or built there if I could rent it out some of the time that I'm not there.
