I don't know what "diverse" means in the context of the media story about Huntingdon. But yes, that was my first guess. Honestly I'm puzzled why that community, nice as it might be, out-did Jim Thorpe on the "cool" scale.

I love Jim Thorpe in the summer time, it is like a visit to Europe. What a great town for a day trip.

He says there's basically nothing to do but go to the coffee shop. So the town might be "quaint" or a host of other adjectives, but not "cool."

As far as I know they were choosing from the point of the town having some "charm" and some crafty and unique shops.......A good walking town.
That Jim Thorpe is a beautiful old town, it sure is.........with lovely people.
Just saw the town, and even parts of Brodheadsville on the "Locator" show on We channel last night. The meeting place was in Jim Thorpe........

IMO you might be off base. Cool nowadays = mountain biking, water sports, hiking, and camping. All of which JT is awesome. But some take to wine tasting, concerts (opera house and up on Flagstaff), history tours and the like. Again JT fits the bill. Then there are train trips, Christmas celebrations, fall foliage, skiing nearby, paintball and there is some good basic dining in town. I go there whenever I can.

Of course I usually have my kayak on my car to take advantage of a beautiful whitewater paradise.

That's what I was thinking. There are a lot of outdoor activities available in the area, some things to do on holidays and at festivals and if you want a concert of something bigger, go to Allentown. It's really not that far away.
