It might be interesting to find out why people love this area besides the mountains and the scenery.
Back in the early 1970's, we lived in the area and found that these were the reasons we had a summer home in Milford and loved it so much.
#1 reason...when you do business, you can look one another in the eye and see that the transaction will be good. (looking your fellow man in the eye seems to be a lost custom anywhere else in the country.)
Was curious as to what other people think and if they feel that these 2 reasons made them feel sold on the area.

Yes, that is a wonderful story. I think the "pace" is slower and people take the time to get to know you. Yes, that "little extra" goes the mile!!

the lovely weather.... not only can i probley count on my hands the number of real sunny days we have seen this year but i think i shoveled about 4 ft of partly cloudy from my driveway last winter

Oh please the main reason that most people move west to NEPA is because the cost of living and taxes in their respective areas is becoming increasingly harder to afford.
The exodus from states east will also increase our taxes and drive our cost of living up, thanks.
Thats usually the first and only reason and the rest are just perks.

Sure the cost of living matters but don't be so cynical! There are MANY MANY more reasons that most of us are moving or want to move. Affordability IS one - but not the only one.

I moved here because my husband promised his Mom when he joined the Army he would be back, that was in 1977...30 years later he was as good as his word.

That's exactly what I was going to say. The rest are nice sentiments, but I know those are the reasons my parents moved up here in 1986, the cost of living, taxes and traffic. The weather up here isn't all that great but there are some nice areas to do outdoor stuff.

It might be interesting to find out why people love this area besides the mountains and the scenery. 
Back in the early 1970's, we lived in the area and found that these were the reasons we had a summer home in Milford and loved it so much.
