Default First Thread; Silly Question - Visiting Wilkes Barre Scranton Airport?

My children LOVE planes and we were thinking of taking them up to the airport so they could see the planes land and take off.

Is that allowed? Thanks so much!

When I was a kid, they used to have an obversation area. But the airport has been remodeled several times since, so I'm not sure if they still have one.

If you want to do something really neat, then call Wyoming Valley Aviation, or Valley Aviation. It's in the phonebook. They will acually take you up in a Cessna airplane sightseeing! I took my kids this past weekend. They loved it! It cost $62.00 for one half-hour, but that is for three people. They even let you take the controls and fly the plane yourself. The phone number is 288-3257. It is something they will probably never forget. The pilot ask you where you want to go. I live in W-B so I had the pilot fly over the city and he flew over our house. I was pointing to the kids saying "look kids, there is our house!" They were like "awesome!" They can take you anywhere you want...Scranton, W-B, anywhere in the region. They even let the kids wear the pilot head gear. it is a little pricey, but when you consider that it equals about twenty dollars a person, it's not so bad. Plus it is something your kids will probably never forget. You have to do this!!!

What a really cool idea! I will mention this to my husband. I never knew that you could do that. I agree that the price is right for something so cool! Thanks WB Proud!

Yes you can. I have taken my son up there a couple of times. You can sit in Wings Restaurant. They have big windows to look out at the runway. I never order food or drink. They never say anything, they just think you are waiting for someone.

Just make sure you check out the flight schedule, during the middle of the day, the airport can be a very quiet.

I really miss the air shows. We live on top of a high hill in Pittston Township not very far from the airport, and the Blue Angels used to come as far south as our subdivision before turning around right over our heads and heading back. We always used to host backyard pool parties for our friends from other parts of the valley to come on up and enjoy the show.
