There is quite a few of them but my favorite is (now forgive me I dont have a good sense of direction) on route 348 past shaffers on the right side. There is also a small one on 590 closer to the Hideout. I like the one on 348, it has more variety.
By the way there is a pretty good place to buy meat on 348 also. Its called Smokin Joes. I bought veal cutlets there that were excellent.

It is quite a long haul from you. It is near Mt. Cobb, about 20 minutes southeast of Scranton, along Route 348 on your way to Hamlin.

What I miss.........
nyc pizza, bagels, knishes, soft Italian Ices in the white pleated paper cups (especially pistacchio), the original Nathan's , neighborhood groceries, Chinatown, Central Park,The Village, all the waterfronts, italian bread from the bakery, street food (roasted chestnuts, and peanutsin the shell in the fall....)the skyline at night, the lights at christmastime :
But mostly i miss walking everywhere on real sidewalks, or using the great public transportation system.
But there's a lot i won't miss, and those are the things that have kept me in the rural outskirts of scranton. for more than 30 years.... every transplant can give you a huge list of why we luv pa!

[quote=61scout80;8661699]when you moved from long island or other nyc metros what did you leave behind that you miss? aside from friends and family of course.
A few of my long island friends have long lists of things they travel back to ny for, from food to activities. i'm curious to hear some of yours. [/SMARTS! WE LEFT THEM IN NY! THE PEEPS HERE ARE NOT SO HAPPY THAT WE LANDED! THE HIDEOUT ? I JUST HAD MY CAR HIT BY A 15 YEAR OLD ! I AM SEEING NOW THAT (WE) HAVE OUR OWN LAWS HERE IN THE HIDEOUT! I GUESS IT'S WHOM YOU KNOW!

I miss a lot of the things that nyctransplant mentioned. A lot of those things are special only to the NYC metro area. But I'm sure a lifelong NEPA resident would miss certain things from up here they moved away.

One thing that differs is here I have sidewalks even though many may be in poor condition. In both of my two old neighborhoods on the island we did not have any!
