Gifted1 is on a distinguished road
I miss my new york pizza, although this weekend I did find a place close to Park Ave. (sorry dont know the name of the area) that is almost perfect to what I like. It's like 30 min away from Mt. Pocono so I want to find a place that closer but if not, I will be traveling 30 min to get my pizza lol. Yes, it's that serious. I also need to find a place that makes good carribean food and especially real beef patties.

As far as missing ice cream and Spanish/ Mexican food we found a very good place right in the city of Scranton that serves both. It's on South Main right before it turns into North on the West Side ( if directions are redundant, sorry I have still not made The Move) Any way, it's a mom and pop type place as far as I can discern, with out door tables in the summer - which adds to that getting ice cream - out experience. The burritos were very tasty and the ice cream and shakes are too!
Not a fancy yuppie place but the kind of place that makes me long for the authenticity of small city life.
BTW I will miss almost nothing when we move. As far as Pizza is concerned I have no complaints. We are pretty adventurous when it comes to going into new place and we try to stay away from chain restaurants - but they are ubiquitous if you need them, for what ever reason you might.
The best pizza I had was in a little place on the corner of Capouse and ...hmmmm I don't know but I know how to get there. Very good pizza - cute but not fancy. It seemed to cater to Marywood students, which is not surprising given it's location - and we met several from NY/ NJ( including one from our home town!) and we all agreed the Pizza was quite good.
Does any one knowthe names of these places? has anyone tries them? If not you should! :-)

P.S. As far as missing the Ocean - or the Sound in my case because I live on the North Shore, for me it will be no biggie. Not that I don't like "the beach" as we call it around here, but it's not as though I am moving to Nebraska or Oklahoma. The Jersey Shore is close enough and for the actual time that you get to use the water front in the North East ( what like three months?) it is just not worth the other negatives of the area.
Since I do not have the luxury of a water front or view home, the beach is just a Summer thing for me.
On the other hand the beautiful mountains of NEPA are year round and I have seen some really stunning views from some very affordable homes right in the city of Scranton.
You just can't put a price on that!
Those mountains are very democratic in their display, where as the coast of LI is off limits to all but the very rich.

I believe you're referencing Taco Bandito along Main Avenue in the Hyde Park section of West Scranton. I've long wanted to stop in there to try it out but don't think I'll have time as I'm moving away in a few days.

Yup that's the place ScranBarre! Maybe you should gather with a few of your friends one night before you leave! The food is amazing, served hot, generous and blows Taco bell off the face of the earth. (which I know is not hard to do...) But it's almost as inexpensive and the soft serve ice cream is good too! A great "summery feel"
BTW Good luck on your move!
