Default Pheaa Grant Awards.. What is the average

Hey guys and gals. I filed for Fasfa and Pheaa. I was wondering if any of you who received aid knew how much average was or were willing to tell me how much you received. I am slated to get $396 for the fall 09 and spring 10 semesters.. My taxes showed I am under the poverty line I am 27 and currently am shacking up at my parents house. Does that seem like a fair number? I have heard up to $4,000. Does the Fasfa usually award more then Pheaa. The only way for me to be able to go to school is for the grants to cover it. I am hoping I won' be let down.

FAFSA...I hate dealing with these forms...but as the parent...since you lvie with yuor parents, their income should also have been on yuor FAFSA form. It basically goes ny total household income. I'm still waiting to hear what my daughter will be getting.....(palms sweating).....don't be afraid to get a really good relationship with a financial aid person in your school...I was lucky to find one who helps me out quite a bit. We have loans up the ying-yang, but so far I have been able to scrounge the tuition up from some lender!

FAFSA is extremely confusing. JCannon can file as an independent because of his age. It does not matter that he lives at home.
On the FAFSA - step 3 states - if you can answer yes to any of the 13 questions, you do not NEED to use your parents info.

The first question is, "Were you born before January 1,1986" - since he is 27 he would answer yes, so this is what it says,
"If you answered yes to any question in Step Three, skip section Four and go to section five".
Section 4 pertains to his parents - he doesn't need to answer this.

Hope it helps.

I do know PHEAA reduced grants tremendously for this year.

Tell me about it.. I live on my own make more then my parents live in a completely different state and am entirely self - sufficient.. but since im 22 and have no kids.. i'm a "dependent" .. so i needed my parents information.. and im going to get no kind of grant for trying to go back to school part time ... all is well though, as long as i get a stafford loan my company will pay the bill so long as i get a 3.0 @ LCCC
