It just comes down to respecting others. You mentioned you have children, I know you're instilling that very same respect into them, because I suspect you're a caring, loving Mom. Right?
It is a lack of respect issue and I can do what I want issue......bottom line is their parents, seem to have not instilled the correct values for their children. I have missed work from our ignorant neighbors blasting bass every hour or two, for ten or so minutes, then leaving. They know people will call cops but they know it will take awhile for them to arrive... I agree....I got a BOAT AIR HORN..... I noticed they can dish it out but they cannot take it!!!! lol

It's not just kids that drive around with those stereos. I've noticed it in men my own age (30s) too.

LOL about the boat air horn!

Wow I come home to 7 pages of this.

Really someones loud stereo should not be such a big deal. It's not always low bass rap either, I listen to a lot of hardcore/metal groups and they don't have very low bass like a lot of those songs people blast.

The whole thing with the railroad tracks, what we mean is that some people live very close to the tracks and there is a 4am train here that literally shakes my house. Laying in bed, it vibrates more than any bass outside my house ever did.

I do try and have respect and not have my music blasting after 2ish AM and I always turned it almost all the way down when I was near my house, especially after dark.

Let's not turn into the old people shaking their fists on the sidewalks... "darn kids!!!" "Get off my lawn!"

We're not , we have agreed it is "adults"; but keep in mind your neighbor may need to get up @ 4 am..... and you would not want him disrespecting your sleep after a night out.

That is pathetic. Must want to relive their youth or something. Loud motorcycles are also annoying. How are they allowed to drive them with no mufflers and if you had a car with no muffler you would get fined? Some motorcycles I hear are even louder than those booming car stereos.

LOL!! I had to go thru this thread before I fell asleep!!

I was a professional musician for 13 years, & my living was LOUD music!! Yet, I can't STAND those bass-heavy stereos blaring from people's cars!! The bass frequencies are usually so strong that they make me literally nauseous from the vibration!!

It's not the "loudness" of the music itself, it's that damn penetrating bass!! I used to blare my music (usually to "warm-up" before a gig, or rehearse before a recording session...), but even with the best equipment I had at that time, it never "penetrated" into other people's brains like today's stuff 'cause I purposely kept the bass down outta "respect" for other folks on the road or in their homes/yards....

I look at it this way....in 10 years when the people listening to this noise in their cars can't hear worth a damn, karma will have come 'round...

NY...you have always made sense in your posts. Yes, free speech is not an inherent right, you can not say anything anywhere, like yelling Fire in a moviehouse. Absolutely, right about disturbing the peace and that is why many communities have rules and regulations and towns and villages have ordinances. I love loud music in my car with my MP3 player or my windows up in the car. It comes down to the respect of others and their surroundings.
