Ah well, if anyone actually referred them to these boards, that'd surely be screwing the pooch. Only a matter of a few clicks before they'd find weluv's reality photo tour.

Unfortunately it is what it is....would a strip club or a dive bar with Pabst Blue Ribbon on draft have a better chance at success in Scranton than a Cheesecake factory? Sadly, yes.

I wish we could support some brewpubs in this area, but they always seem to go under....Hackett's, where Brixx is now, and the Black Rock, in Wilkes-Barre where the Arena bar and grill is now....both didn't make it, because people couldn't understand a place with beer that wasn't Coors Light or Bud...

What I'd really like to see is a combination butcher shop/restaurant.

Buy meat or eat meat, can't go wrong.

Unless the business can provide a service to the government workers(state, federal, county & city) in the downtown between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm it will undoubtly fail without having some sort of alcohol involved.

The downtown is dead as can be by 5pm on any weekday and a virtual ghost town on Saturday and Sunday.

Regardless of politics this is the reality....In essence stop dumping money into a dead area and start pumping into the neighborhoods so that we can maintain or at least retain some of the residents that are fleeing like rats from a sinking ship. Seriously....

Kildare's is a KOZ and without that we would never have "pulled" them off the mountain and you guys know it. They moved from a busy shopping center to a dead downtown for purely tax reasons.

You're right. We were talking about this on another thread. People around here can't appreciate a good beer. They'll swill that domestic or light garbage until they are too drunk to move. Upscale places like that don't last here, people prefer a dive, corner bar where they can sit all day and night and consume Bud.
