Best place for carpet/flooring?
Thanks to all who told me about used furniture. I'll definitely do the yard sales and Craig's list.
What I'm doing is fixing up a small house for myself and I need to get vinyl kitchen flooring and and living room carpet. Not very large areas. Who do you suggest or recommend avoiding?
Thank you!

One thing I do KNOW is that if a guy who doesn't have a store screws something up or fails to finish it becomes easy for him to disappear. I've done the "private installer" deal and let me tell you...there is nobody to call if there is a problem with the workmanship. Try spending $3000 on carpet only to have it put in haphazardly. The maker of the carpet can't help because it is "an installation error" and the guy doesn't return phone calls. Based on my negative experience, I would much rather deal with someone who has to pay "overhead" because they have more skin in the game. If a store has been in the same location for years, why not support them...it isn't worth taking the risk of getting burned or ignored. The lesson is an expensive one, because NOBODY wants to fix someone else's mistakes.

I would agree to many extents, but John has been in the business for years and he also works for Village Carpet in Honesdale which means you can find him. He did our house and I would use him again. He comes highly recommended from many contractors and builders if you are in this area.
