Thumbs up COLTS news: Hybrid buses on the way. Free (non-hybrid) rides June 18

"Dump the Pump" day-- Free rides on COLTS on June 18! I wouldn't bet that the system'll get bogged down by the demand, but it's a nice idea. I'm about due for another COLTS ride myself..

And, really cool that they're switching the fleet over to hybrid buses over the next few years.

Next CD meetup should be on the COLTS:

Not much love for da COLTS on here. Or, maybe everyone's plotting out their routes for the 18th.

Btw, I kinda hate how youtube links automatically appear embedded now. Didn't mean for that stupid video to overshadow the big COLTS news.

But, just discovered that you can use a URL shortener to simply link to them still.

But, do you get the free rides June 18th?

That's cool WB's going hybrid too. Now if we could just merge them into one bus system, or at least have a couple joint routes or something..

I've always thought its asinine that one metro area this size has 2 separate bus systems. There are a lot of people that commute between the two cities, an express service between the two cities on I-81 rather than through the towns would be great for reducing traffic on the highway.

But we'll never see that happen, both bus systems are run by the counties....2 political fiefdoms where a lot of patronage jobs are handed out....neither county would want to give up their power.

ITA with go phillies. It costs $6 one way on Martz to get up to Scranton. I do like that both companies are going hybrid though.
