Your first pick sounds good but the rest seem a bit negative.
This thread is for positive things about NEPA not bashing.
They're all tongue-in-cheek and all in good fun. Might as well spin the negatives into something positive, even if it's not true.

I don't want to hear negative stuff. Everything is so negative right now in our country, let's hear the good stuff

My 3 favorite things about the area:
1. Space! There are times I'm the only one driving on a road which never would have happened in NJ.
2. Nature - I love having critters on my property, and 2 gorgeous state parks closeby.
3. Relatively low crime (in my neck of NEPA anyway), as opposed to NJ.

Ok, if I had to add a fourth, I'd say I like how just my being here (the fact that I'm a "transplant") gets some of the locals' panties in a bunch . Oh, and snow...love the snow

I'll go.

Jitty Joes Ice Cream.

You can never be too old for that stuff. Lately I'm on a black cherry kick.

ok, I get ya but what does that ITA mean???? And we shouldn't have to reassure ourselves about being here. As Tony the Tiger would say, "IT"S GREAT!!"

After visiting NEPA for the 1st time in 40 years last year, I noticed 3 positive things:

1) EVERYONE we met along the way from the "youngsters" to the "oldsters" was SUPER-NICE & down to-earth!!

2) You can't beat the beautiful mountains & forests!! What great scenery to live in!!

3) The PIEROGIES!!!! OMG!!! (did I say "OMG!!!"???)

Enough with all the negativity! EVERYPLACE on Earth has some negative aspects - it's a matter of what each person can live with and without - and where pleasure supersedes pain.
We transplants - or wanna be transplants in my case, are in a very good position to say why we moved here - or aspire to move. We were not born here and we made a conscious choice to relocate.
After all NEPA was not our only option. No one held a gun to our collective heads and said "it's NEPA or Metro NY - now pick!'
We could have chosen the Carolinas FLA or the Atlanta suburbs. But we didn't.

Here is what is GOOD about NEPA:

1. I can still be a North Easterner. This may not be important to everyone but it is to me,,,"Y'all" is not in my vocab - or that of my children and I would like to keep it that way
2. Awesome, oft times under rated natural beauty.
3. Four glorious seasons!
4. An affordable living standard
5. A huge supply of older homes just awaiting my personal touch!
6. the presence of several respected institutions of higher higher learning
7. Not far from Philly NYC or the Shore if you need a change of pace
8. a more serene, slower life style
9. Those beautiful Mountains!!!c They deserve their own entry!
10. Kind, friendly welcoming people!
