Yea I was wondering about Stroudsburg

1) Rural/Suburban/exurban?
-How much has it changed in the last decade and how threatened is the once rural character?

2) Which market are you considered a part of?
-New York/Philly/WBS?

3) What TV stations do you get?
-New York/Philly/WBS?

4) What's the local affiliation and split for sports fanbases?
-What is it in baseball with Yankees/Mets/Phillies/Pirates?
-What is it in football with Giants/Jets/Eagles/Steelers?
-What is it in hockey with Rangers/Devils/Flyers/Penguins?
-What is it in basketball with Knicks/Nets/Sixers?

5) Do a lot of people mix and match between cities or are they loyal to one city?

The Stroudsburgs are now a pocket of "the city" within the otherwise beautiful Pocono Mountains. There are still nice areas to be had not far outside of town, including the "West End" (Brodheadsville, Saylorsburg, Effort areas), and parts of the Smithfields are nice, but the Stroudsburg in and of themselves have always left me with a stale taste in my mouth whenever I've had the misfortune of having to have had to conduct affairs there.

2) Which market are you considered a part of?
-New York/Philly/WBS?

For now Monroe County (home of The Stroudsburgs) is still considered to be the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre media market, but neighboring Pike County is now in the New York City media market AND part of the New York City metropolitan area. I suspect Monroe County, too, will be added by 2015.

3) What TV stations do you get?
-New York/Philly/WBS?

For now once again Monroe County is claimed by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre media, but since Pike County got switched to NYC you rarely see Pike County news now on the local ABC/NBC affiliates (Local CBS news affiliate went out of business due to the recession) unless something "major" happens. WNEP-TV (ABC-Scranton) recently opened a new newsroom in Downtown Stroudsburg to help shore up their stranglehold upon Monroe County, but if and when Monroe County is also added into the NYC market it is likely to stop coverage there as well.

4) What's the local affiliation and split for sports fanbases?
-What is it in baseball with Yankees/Mets/Phillies/Pirates?

Baseball is a healthy mix of Yankees, Mets, and Phillies fans. I'd say Yankees/Mets fans dominate Stroudsburg with a healthy smattering of Phillies fans closer to the Lehigh Valley and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Football is applicable to all of the above. You'll find predominantly Giants/Jets fans in Stroudsburg with more Eagles fans closer to both the Lehigh Valley and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. There isn't a "huge" Steelers fan base in Stroudsburg though to my knowledge. I'm unsure of NHL and NBA.

5) Do a lot of people mix and match between cities or are they loyal to one city?
That's really a tough call. People in Stroudsburg don't really associate themselves at all, for the most part, with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre even though the area is only 45 minutes away and is a pretty good-sized metropolitan area. Most would head into NJ or the Lehigh Valley first to do shopping they couldn't find in Stroudsburg before considering heading up to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Stroudsburg has more of a NYC influence than a Philadelphia influence. Oddly enough Wilkes-Barre has a slight Philadelphia edge to it, and Scranton has a slight NYC edge to it, even though both cities aren't far apart.
