Companies like that belong in business parks or downtown, period. You want your stale dry urban living in a city then maybe you should haul it back to Seattle......People like myself and Mr. Quinn put ourselves out there for many people in this city. Great points Dan. Why would anyone want a business right smack in their neighborhood? I wouldn't care where it was, if it's on Montage or downtown or in Archbald, as long as people are working who cares? What's the big deal if someone lives in Scranton and goes to work up on Montage? They still have to pay that silly wage tax and since they live in the city, pay taxes. Jobs are jobs no matter where they are, but not in people's backyards.

I hate to tell you this but MetLife's facilities in this area are related to IT so they are not like Prudential. I don't appreciate the pot shots or the assumptions.

Who said I don;t have a family? Who said I came home with my tail between my legs? Your are wrong on all accounts pal and I have never had a Latte in my life. Sounds like you should move to Seattle, you certainly have the bad attitude, the facist behavior and are more of a coffee afficiando then I am. My family is from here , I went to school here and have lived here on and off for most of my life. I have every right to speak my mind without being bashed.

What site are you talking about? I don't post there and when and if I do I post under my REAL NAME, unlike everyone else on that site.

Soap opera, really....You think that an elected neighborhood leader fighting to protect his neighbors from poor city flood protection and airbourne pollutants is a joke then I feel sorry for you.

My lot? Thats rich, I'm the only one with a legitimate gripe and like the rest of Doherty humps you just can't see that. Mean spirited huh, next time you have to carry your 80yr old father thru waist deep water while he is tears about losing his home...Then you can tell me that I'm mean spirited.

People like me...Hmmmmm lets see I have lived and worked in out of the country and came home and settled to help take care of my father, that I just lost after a tireless battle with Myasthenia gravis this April.

People like yourself, that think its ok to sink millions and millions into useless projects in hopes that the city might just be a utopia for yuppies from NYC, are the exact reason that our city has accumulated close to a half billion in long term debt with nothing to show for it.

I didn't like Seattle when I was there, but wouldn't have any problem moving back to Tel Aviv. As far as the TOS is concerned maybe you should lay off you politely hidden attacks as well.

I think you might be Sherri Fanucci because that last post seems like a page right our her play book, but then again you all sound the same.

Build it and the taxpayers will pay for it right?...BUT they will never come, will they.

Building a stadium in the downtown is the same white elephant that the Southern Union, 500 Block and Connell building will become and have been, but you don't care because its on the backs of the low income taxpayers in the city....Just like the monsterous debt that has been built up and the next 25% tax increase that will come at the end of this year.

Slammin Scrannin......... Whatever you say bud.

shoegal, you're way off base and don't have a clue what you are talking about. Sinking money into this city and thinking that it will turn around if it becomes a mini NY is short-sighted and that is just what Doherty is doing to destroy this city. Wasting tax payer money on white elephants downtown, instead of investing money into city services is foolish. Hey, I'm all for paying taxes and you don't ever get something for nothing, but how come it seems that in Scranton taxes go up, but the quality of services do not. If the citizens are paying for something they should get something in return.

If I could give you rep points for that post, I would, I agree 100%...well 99.9%, since there is no way that Shoegal is Fanucci, because as ridiculous as a lot of shoegal's posts are, she can form coherent sentences....I highly doubt that Sherri Fanucci could write at even a 1st grade level.

Unless Sherri has a ghostwriter or something...

Here are my thoughts, becasue i would like to get a buzz or campaign going for the "powers that be" takes this seriously:

1. The Steamtown Mall is dead. Has been, and cannot be resurrected. The Lackawanna County Staidum/PNC needs 13-16 million in repairs anyway.

2. The location of the Mall is perfect, because it is close to I-81. There property behind the Mall is in utter disrepair, and could possibly be purchase at a discount. These properties could become parkinkg lots.

3. Many commerical buildings are empty, due to lack of population 9residentail 7 professional), and foot traffic. As staium would downtown would help bars, restaurants, stores all do better business.

4. Mores bars, restaurants, stores, apartments, may eventull come to downtown because of the new traffic. All eateries would offer specials on gamedays, thus making things very competitive.

5. We are the home to the Yankees AAA team, so we do have more high profile players come through out system than any other; thus, more people than usual would be inclined to attend a game, or at least go downtown.
THINK WHAT DOWNTOWN WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE IF CLEMENS' COMBACK TOOK PLACE IN THE CITY ! THE CROWDS WERE AMAZING!

I FEEL AS THOUGH A MOVE LIKE THIS WOULD REVOLUTIONIZE THE CITY THROUGH THE TRICKLE DOWN EFFECTS. IT WOULD BE LIKE AN INJECTION OF HGH INTO THE LOCAL ECONOMY

NOTICE WHAT THE WACHOVIA ARENA/CASEY PLAZA HAS DONE FOR WILKES-BARRE. That entire area is developed with new business.

IT IS A FACT IN THE MINOR LEAGUES (HOCKEY & BASEBALL) THAT S-WB IS THE BEST PLACE TO PLAY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT BY SEVER PLAYERS!

THINK CAMDEN YARD OR WRIGLEY FIELD ON A SMALLER SCALE.

I would love nothing more than to leave my apartment downtown, met some friend for happy hour, and check out a game!

For those who will immediately complain about taxes and building a stadium, obviously dont realize that this is a LONG TERM INVESTMENT. If you want something to change, it isnt going to come free. Nothing does. Let me know your thoughts...
Back on topic without violating the TOS please.
