No...I don't think sexual preference has to play into any day at a family amusement park. I would think people of all sexual orientations are welcome there and treated equally every day.

ORIENTATION>>>PLEASE...that sounds like you had to sleep with men and women but you prefer women.......I doubt that is how you would describe yourself. I have actually never been to one of these events....I do NOT get the sex references....I think that many gays have children...families and maybe would like one day out of the year when they feel a little safer....not too much to ask is it...GAYS are not anti-family????I do not get the attitudes here. My family HATES my guts......strangers hate my guts...I have been hasrassed...beaten up and antagonized by teachers when I was in high school....I think these events foster awareness...at least with some people. I doubt that even on gay day...that the gay people would be in the majority. When I was going to Penn State we had gay thursdays...if you wore jeans either you were or cool and did not care...the purpose was to open a dialogue and to out the severe homophobes...they wore plaid pants...I think you guys are over reacting......try and understand. PEACE GAY people will go on the rides and experience weather...just like everyone else...I don't think there will be any orgies on the roller coaster or whatever is going through your minds.... If things were as rosy as you think there would be NO need for such things...hey no more ST Patricks...all drunkards tearing up the city...NO Mardi Gras...no Cinci de Mayo...see the problem....it really is stereotypical prejudice whether you realize it or not.....every minority/ethnic group has their own customs....I bet you do too. Live and let live....remember we are part of you....since we tend to not reproduce...we are a product of straight sex...straight families......part of "god's plans for humanity"......you know those "meek" folks who inherit the Earth...or god's test of love your neighbor...anyway our society is flunking the test.

Cancel WVIA Family Fun Day. Not all of us watch PBS.

Cancel Jimmy's 5th Birthday party. Not all of us have children.

Cancel the Peterschmidt Family Reunion. Why should the Germans have a special day after what they did to Pearl Harbor?

Honestly, I love how these threads devolve. I really enjoy watching ignorance in action sometimes.

Which they are. If an LGBT group is having a get together there then I find nothing wrong with it.

Thank you...The thread has shown that the only people who care are the same people who cause trouble. The bottom line should be who cares and let the gays talk in the thread.....I do not need to explain issues to people who obviously do not want to hear it. So I ask those people...why respond to this thread...and why are you hijacking it off topic? Which is against the T.O.S.......

Unfortunately, it IS a hard concept for some people to grasp!!

The majority of straight people I've encountered that say "I have no problem with gays/Hispanics/blacks/etc" (including some minorities saying the same about white people) are the ones who have the MOST problems with those minorities (which comes across stongly in what they say & what they type).

If they're having a "Gay Day" or a "Gay Parade", so be it. Their money is the same shade of green as anybody else who decides to rent a venue!! I don't see what the problem is...if you don't want to go to it or have your kids see it, then DON'T GO!! How simple is that??

I went to 1 Gay Parade in NYC in my life & was shocked at how the LGBT community fed into the stereotype!! It actually sickened me!!

BUT!!

There are some in the community who DO need to attend these events...gay people whose families have disowned them & have no other "family" than each other, as well as those who want to celebrate their uniqueness. Unfortunately, those families who have rejected their gay kids are numerous!! These kids end up on the streets, get pimped & drugged, & many times end up dead.

I wrote a song years back about Covenant House in NYC who help these kids. Angels on earth!!

YouTube - Suffer The Children

Actual photos of kids rejected by their families & ended up prostituting for drug money.

Bigotry & hate are are still going strong in the world despite the sugar-coated reasoning behind it...

ITA George. As for the Gay Pride Parades....are they over the top? Yes, but most parades are. Secondly, no one should be judged on the actions of a few. I wonder if the Christians on this board would like to be judged by the actions of Fred Phelps or those who shoot at abortion doctors or blow up abortion clinics.

I have to say there is much anger here on this topic. I dont understand why people cannot accept that others have views that differ from theirs. You dont have to agree with them but learn to realize that the way you think is ok for you but it doesnt mean its the only way to think.

Letting go of the anger is something that should be considered!

On the topic of gay people...I have alot of gay friends and have met alot of their family members. My closest friends and I have visited each others homes and met each others family members. This includes moms, dads, sisters, and brothers. I havent ran across a problem with them not being "accepted". Just because a few have family that dont accept them doesnt mean that its true of all gay people. Its sad to think that because someone is gay they cannot be accepted by family members.

As far as gay parades or gay day or whatever an event is called, who cares. If you dont like it you dont have to go. I have never been to a gay parade/day but would go if one of my friends asked me to.

I can certainly agree with "if you don't want to go to it or have your kids see it, then don't go". But I haven't seen any advertising for this and there is no mention of it on Knoebel's website, so I'm hoping that families that spend time and money traveling to Knoebel's for the day don't end up witnessing any of "the LGBT community feeding into the stereotype" like you mentioned.

Just as I'm sure many non-Christians would be upset if they paid their admission and found out after they got there that some large Christian organization had planned a day at the park for that day and they ended up listening to sermons and Bible-thumping all day.

Many people speak of tolerance and acceptance for certain groups, yet they somehow forget that they must also be tolerant of others that have long-held ideals and beliefs.

Why would I care if Christians did that? I'm agnostic but I believe in freedom of speech and freedom to assembly.
