1 The Mines in Wilkes Barre is official closed for good, greco will sue city.
2 Luna Lounge downtown will be closing in a few weeks, in addition to serious lcb violations last weekend, they owe every vendor, liquor company, advertising person loads of money.
3 Colloseum in scranton had their phones turned off a few times and electricity, they are in contractual debatement now with new perspective owners.

I think I called that one last year. The 6 month appeal of an expensive NYC wannabe club in Scranton has worn off. So much for economic development using bars.

We knew this was going to happen but no one wanted to hear it. We were kill joys and didn't want anything successful in the city. We were also right. I guess the sheep frequented this place for a bit and then got tired of it. Another example of turning Scranton into NYC that has failed.

I know The Mines had problems with thugs and crime and because of this the police literally would put like three/four cruisers right across the street from the club. I have seen this with my own eyes. I think the police presence killed The Mines. I feel kind of sorry for owners of these bars that end up being a haven for thugs and drug dealers. There really isn't much they can do about it. Besides doing a quick wand search for weapons. It's against the law too ban certain types of people from your club. They are not allowed to discriminate against thier clientel. So besides a wand search and a dress code that is about it. These thugs have been closing down bars in and around the city for years. They congregate at one bar and shoot up the place, or cause other havoc until the city closes them down, and then they move to another bar/club and ruin it, and on, and on. It's to bad the owners can't say "nope, you look like trouble, take a walk!" As for Luna, I had my doubts about that place. This isn't Miami or Manhattan. There are no rich and famous people here pulling up in a Bugatti with a couple million to burn. This is more of a cheap beer and chicken wings type of area. It is a poor, blue collar area. Who wants to pay a huge cover charge, and then $4.50 for a beer, when the bar across the street has $1.00 drink specials, and a more relaxed enviornment.

This is true, but I think our wonderful leaders here in Scranton want it to look more like another borough of NYC and that's Manhattan and it's not happening. Scranton has never had such a short-sighted mayor as Mr. Doherty.

It's not against the law to not play certain music in your establishment or to enforce a strict dress code.
