I already pretty much know the answer, but has the Information Technology field improved in NEPA at all since I moved back to NJ in 2004? That was the only reason i left the area-lack of work in my field....just wondering if it has improved since (even though i highly doubt it)

There are a lot of small business' that could probably use a good IT man, but I don't think there's a whole lot of places where you could make a decent, consistent living. But you could probably be a hired gun for many small places. Your best bet would probably be one of the local universities, as they usually keep things in house. Of course the pay is going to be marginal.

Not in your field, but Dept of Labor and Industry is hiring another 30 people in August, its for the unemployment office ( as YES we are getting paid ) pay to start is $14.37 hourly. They have hired approx. 120 people since Sept. Says something about the unemployment in PA !!

You won't find a decent I/T job here, maybe at Tobyhanna, but they are hard to come by. My hubby drives to NJ for that field, just wasnt worth the pay to work around here.

One of the areas biggest employers, Sanofi Pasteur, on Rt. 611 in Swiftwater hires by way of Manpower. You may want to check them out. But their I/T department is run by an outside consultant company and I don't remember the name. What is your specialty??

Thanks for the responses. I was just curious to see if anything in that field has improved by way of more jobs in NEPA since i left in '04.

I currently do hardware/software support and network security for a school district here in NJ...just wish i couldve found something similar before moving away in '04.

Well, I can't recommend the company I work for since they've been in a hiring freeze since I started in 2006. But what you could do, even if they're not actively seeking candidates, is send your resume out to different companies in the NEPA area and school districts. You'll be surprised how sometimes they may not be advertising but might still consider someone.
