School dress codes rethought
We are quite serious about a NEPA City house in a district with a rather stringent dress code. Many of you may remember that a year ago I was dead set against dress codes in public schools. Well I still do not think that a uniform makes the student, I do see that some limitations upon bizarre and frankly absurd attire could possibly spill over into a students life and have somewhat of a positive affect upon their choices of attire outside of school.
It's also way less expensive Can't argue with that.
So for those of you who think NY/LI/NJ transplants will be the downfall of NEPA, think again. Quite seriously, did you ever expect this out of me?
Bottom line, not good to stereotype people by their region of origin, and change in whatever form it takes is a process that does not happen over night.

I think that is pretty cool. The ability to be objective and see both sides is a great thing. Nothing wrong with changing your mind as you re-think certain issues - whatever works out for you and makes you happy is what matters.
Grew up with a uniform (younger grades) and never had an issue with it. Went to a public high school where there was no dress code. There were no issues with colors, short skirts, pants hanging down to ankles, etc.
I was lucky...because when I was growing up most of the parents instilled the dress code from their homes so schools rarely got involved with this.

We had no dress codes in schools either. But, Blue is right.......the parents would not let their kids leave the home looking like a freak show. Pants down to the ankles requires the schools to rethink the clothing issue......along with some other poor attire.
Anyhow, I think I would have liked the uniforms. There was way too much of who was the "best dressed" and who " had the best and smartest clothes"...........

Summering, you are right on the money. If most of us took our year books out we would find a classification for "best dressed" - interesting!!!

Meh. I remember my mom and grandmother telling me the principal would send kids home for wearing jeans or measuring the girls' skirts and sending them home if they didn't pass muster.
