Default looking for an apartment, back mountain area

a friend of mine is looking for an apartment in the back mountain area. 23 yo employed female, with a small (well trained) dog. she's looking for a one br in the 600 or less range. having a hard time finding listings...seems like a lot of area rentals are primarily word of mouth.

would appreciate some info or pointers.

thanks

Did you check the classifieds section of the Times Leader? She might not find anything in Dallas or Harvey's Lake, but possibly farther down the mountain in Shavertown or even better yet, down in Kingston. When I was helping a friend look for an apt. recently, I saw many in that price range in Kingston and Forty Fort.....

The Back Mountain area will be tough. Not only aren't there a whole lot of apartments there (the region is dominated by single-family detached dwellings), but also $600/month for rent will be pushing it there. I agree with EnyaGirl that you might want to give Forty Fort/Kingston a shot. These are both generally nicer towns not a far drive from Dallas with some great neighborhoods and more plentiful apartments.

There is a small housing project off of Carverton rd. in the Trucksville area, but I can't think of the name of it. That would probably be your best bet out in the Back Mountain. If i am up that way soon, I'll get you the name of the project.
