152nd Harford Fair starts today and runs through Saturday. i have been going to it since I was a baby (don't remember much of it then ) but it is a real old-fashioned country fair with lots of great things to see and do. $6 admission/free parking. www.harfordfair.com. Also, lots of different discounts throughout the week, check out the website.

Harford is in beautiful South Central Susquehanna County. You just take I-81 North from Wilkes-Barre, and eventually you'll run into it (about ten minutes past Elk Mountain if I'm not mistaken). Our family went to the Harford Fair once and had a wonderful time! It was so much better than the Wyoming County Fair!

Good to see you back Paul! Welcome home! Yes, Harford is give or take 10-15 minutes past Elk. The size of the fair is bigger than the Wayne County Fair but smaller than the Bloomsburg Fair, somewhere in the middle.

How do you get to 81 from Honesdale? The only way I know is going 84 to 81 and that seems like you would be backtracking. How long of a ride would it be to the fair from Honesdale ...at least an hr right? Thanks.

Rt 6 turns into I81. You take Rt 6 out of Honesdale, and follow it as it turns into the Casey hwy and eventually I81. You need to go north on 81 once you have that choice around Mayfield and get off at the Hartford exit. It is probably a little more than an hour away but sounds like it's worth the ride.

There HAS to be a quicker way than that to get from Honesdale to Harford. My guess would be that there's a road that juts off Route 6 West between Waymart and Forest City, and from there you can take (I think it's Route 106) to I-81 in the Lenox area if I'm not mistaken.

You can go from Honesdale through Waymart. I believe the Route number is Route 296, then follow signs for Browndale/Forest City. You would make a left onto Route 247, through Br'dale, F.C., up Main Street, until you get to Dundaff Street make a left, past Kennedy Park and keeping going until you see the signs for Route 106 and yes, you can get on the Lenox exit. Another route, I don't know if it is any longer: Take 670, through Bethany, Pleasant Mount, and then it turns into 371. Take that until you get to the four corners in Herrick Center (you would have passed the old Agway building on your right-green in color). Keep going straight onto Route 374. Take that until you pass the Candlelight Inn Restaurant/Bar and make a left. Still on 374, you will make a right at a sign for Elk Mountain. Go past the mountain, round a sharp curve (still 374) and go until you come to Lake Idlewild Ski Shop directly in front of you. Make a left there. Right past Dunnier's Store (signs for 81 there) and you should hit Lenox and 81 within 5 minutes or less. Gee, do I sound like a local or what?

FYI there is construction on Dundaff Hill.
haha Just really wanted to throw that in there, even if it isn't in the directions at all. I read it in the Forest City News and really wanted to feel like I knew something about the area

If you put it on google maps, route 6 to 81 is the fastest way...the back roads would probably be prettier, but not faster.
