That's a criminal act in PA and most other states, I'd contact the police. Bouncing checks is a big time no no and I'm sure many people aren't aware of the consequences which could include prison.

I believe you can pursue unpaid judgments through the Sheriff's office, there's other avenues like liens. Really comes down to how much they owe you and if its worth the effort. You do need current address obviously, and SS number is big plus and a collection agency might be interested if you have SS.

I only ever had to pursue one customer in my 15 years that I ran my business and since I couldn't find him it was pointless to continue. The others that got behind I just kept sending bills and they all eventually paid. It's easier and more productive for me to collect myself than going through the courts. I don't think that's noraml but then again an informal poll on my forum shows only about 25% of people using coal are Democrats. Coincidence?

According to Pennsylvania law, if the issuer of the check refuses to pay within 10 days of demand for payment after the check bounced and the amount is between $500 and $1,000, this constitutes a misdemeanor of the 2nd degree. See Bad checks - 18 Pa. Cons. Stat. § 4105 - Pennsylvania Attorney Resources - Pennsylvania Laws.

The maximum sentence in PA for a misdemeanor of the 2nd degree is 2 years in a state penitentiary. By all means this should also be reported to the State Police.

FYI, the OP is from 2009. The new post today is looking for someone to talk to. And really, don't we all just need someone to talk to, someone to talk to?

I tend to look at the dates when a new post pops up that seems to be a couple of pages long. Definitely some strange posts sometimes from new people.
