One of the most wonderful places in Pa is Doylestown........
It has lots of boutiques, cafes, galleries, bookshops, small shops and museums. Although it is quite expensive to live there, and is in Bucks cty.
It is historical yet new.......with fun places to see and visit for all.
Some areas on cobblestone streets.........just a pleasure to go there.
It is not all that far from Philly, yet far enough to be a rural neighbor.
But, to find a town that is more inexpensive in housing, rents, taxes........
I'd say that Scranton area is not so bad at all. The town and surrounding
areas are improving all the time.
There is also Harveys Lake that one can move too. They have motor boating, and swimming. It is a private community but with no gates, and it can be a joy to visit. ( not a town, but a nice spot to have a home)
I'm sure others have their favorites.......but for the NE area those are mine.

I would recommend--if you can afford it....King of Prussia. Nice homes, near a HUMONGOUS MALL, nice scenery, not far from an I.T. job in Philly, but far enough away from...err...umm Philly.

I have young children and live in the town of Reeders, near camelback ski mountain. we love our area and have close to 2 acres of land. The schools campus are breathtaking views of mountains and I like the small town rural area too. There are many homes up for RESALE. I strongly recommend that rather than building. Many homes are only 5 years old or LESS. Look into one of those. I wouldn't move in the stroudsburg area or tobyhanna/mt. pocono area. But do look at the MLS listing I've posted Search the MLS for homes. If you find your dream home and not sure of the neighborhood/town. Just ask me. good luck.
Hi there,
I also live in Reeders and moved here 14 years ago when my oldest daughter started Kindergarten. The schools are decent but have undergone changes over the years. Reeders is probably one of the best places in the area to live since it is close to Rt. 80 but also rural with homes on at least 1 acre of land. You may also want to try the Chestnuthill Twp area which includes Brodheadsville, Effort, Gilbert area. This is a different school district, Pleasant Valley. The Pleasant Valley area has become the place you want to be, because many of the people who live there have stayed in the area.
By the way, I am also a realtor so I would be more than happy to help you out with any questions you may have. I could also email you with listings if you'd like. You can email me at marerich@gmail.com.
Good luck to you.

Hi there. I'm new to this website. I had to respond to your question and also add to what Molly had to say. I have lived in Reeders for the past 14 years. We moved up here when my oldest daughter was starting Kindergarten. Reeders is probably one of the best areas in our school district, Pocono Mountain. Over the years the school has seen many changes. The area has grown a great deal. I think there are over 11,000 children in the school district.

I would also look into the Chestnuthill Twp. area which includes Brodheadsville, Effort, Gilbert area. This area is part of the Pleasant Valley School District. This area has not seen the growth that Pocono Mountain has had, and for the most part I have found that there are more natives of the area as opposed to the Reeders area which consists of many folks moving from NY and NJ.

By the way, I am a realtor and I would be more than happy to send you listings of the different areas. I could also answer any questions you may have about the different areas. You can email me at marerich@gmail.com.

Good luck to you.

Hi there,
I have lived in the area for 14 years, moving here when my oldest daughter was starting K. I am also a realtor in the area. Cresco is actually a decent place to live. The school is nearby, that way your children wouldn't be on a school bus for too long. There are several businesses who are moving up to the Poconos, most notably Mount Airy Casino, Wall Street West, J & J. There is a huge pharmaceutical company, Sanofi Pasteur in nearby Swiftwater. The Cresco location is close to the major road Route 611 and 940 for which you can catch Rt. 80, Rt 115 and the PA Turnpike.
Other places such as Swiftwater, Scotrun, Tannersville are nice as well as convenient. Many developments (& subdivisions) have their own lakes.
If you have any other questions, I'd be more than happy to help you. My email address is marerich@gmail.com.
By the way, what kind of business are you opening?
Good luck.

Wild Acres is a gorgeous development and very well taken care of. I am a realtor and have shown homes in the development, and although they really vary in size they still mix nicely. There are 7 lakes ranging in size of 6-95 acres, three swimming pools, one of which is indoor, tennis courts, beaches and playgrounds. The dues are $730 a year which is actually fairly low for the amount of amenities.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me on my email address, marerich@gmail.com.
Good luck.

Molly,
I accidentally sent you a response that was meant for someone else. By the way, I am a realtor and I just wanted to mention that Wild Acres presently has 65 listings, most of which range in price from low 100's to mid 200's even though there are some large very expensive homes.

Hi I need some help. I am relocating to NEPA this month and I haven't found a place to stay yet. Are there any hotel/motels in Pittston or the surrounding area. I have been searching where to live and it looks like pittston is a nice area. Also does anyone have anything to say about Sara J Dymond Elementary School?
Thanks in advance
Dawn
