You can't use the waterpark unless you get a room. But you are allowed to wander the hotel and see all the cool stuff and eat in the restaruants (starbucks too!!)

OK I found out one thing about Pocono Mountain Lake Estates.
There was an article in the paper:
Habitat for Humanity is in the process of picking a family for a house to be built in 2008. It will be built in Pocono Mountain Lake Estates, Lehman Township. Applicants can call (570) 828-1623 for information on an upcoming workshop, which will help with the application.
NOW HERE"S the question:
How do you look at this? I see this as not a good thing. Cause your neighbor may be somebody who can't afford to live there and be just some rift-raft person who is a loser and/or had a bad stream of luck following them-thus lost thier job for XYZ reason and fit the criteria to qualify for a free home.
And yeah, blah blah blah, oh its so nice to do habitat for humanity, blah blah blah, sooo many unfortunate people, blah blah blah, god bless them, blah blah blah.
......as my father would say "NIMBY" --not in my back yard ----thank you.
MY OPINON!!!

Molly-
I totally understand your point...I tend to lean towards that line of thinking too a lot but I'm going to play devils advocate. These HFH people could also be people who are just down on their luck and need a step up to help them get on their feet. I probably would be hesitant about that situation also though.

Many of the lots in area developments end up being sold as foreclosures because many NY and NJ'ers buy them with the intention of moving here and then can't afford to build on them. Maybe the lot was cheap and HFH took advantage of it.
As far as the HFH neighbor being a riff-raff, down on your luck loser; you could also end up having a family with parents who comute to NYC every day and don't supervise their kids. Which is worse? Either way, a good reason to stay out of any development.

Hi MollyMe,
We may be relocating to the Pocono area from Pittsburgh and I've been doing as much internet research as possible. City-data seems to give more honest perspective of the area versus all the demographic & school information provided on real estate websites. However we will be visiting this weekend to see for ourselves. We will be meeting with an agent to view houses in Tannersville (particularly one in Cobble Creek Estates). After reading many posts, my main concern is the schools. Pocono Mountain appears to be growing exponentially as well as attracting some "undesirables". I have 4 young children (7,6,4,5mo) and obviously want the best for them. Should we consider private school or other areas?

Milford area has a great school system, Delaware Valley...also Lake Wallenpaupack area schools, I've heard, are good too.
