Hi Molly!

I am also a New York original being born and bred in Brooklyn way back when!! Have since moved to Staten Island, then Toms River, New Jersey when I was in my 30's, and now divorced and thinking about moving with my 17 year old daughter to Scranton. Any idea how the high schools are there? She just started her junior year....

thanks..Brian

Well the winters are cold--not always snowy and I'm sure if you can survive North Dakota....Pennsylvania is a breeze. We plow the roads here pretty good. But just don't live on a private road/dirt road. And best bet is to live not to far in from a "main road".

Default Carpooling: Tobyhanna - Scranton

Hello MollyMe,
This is my first post here, and I hope you can help me. I live in Tobyhanna, and am looking for folks who might be driving to Scranton (my car recently died, and we cant replace it at the moment). I would be willing to share cost of gas (which is sooooo ridiculous now!!). This would be a temporary thing.

If you know someone who could help me, or if you know any bus services (besides Martz - they cant get me to Scranton by 830AM), commuter services, carpools, etc. I would so greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Hilary

PS I am a LIer too -- grew up in Central Islip, now Islandia, NY

Hey everybody. I have been searching for months for a place to move, and after all of my research i have decided that PA it is. I,m from Bronx, NY and currently live in Yonkers,NY. It's time for a change. Could someone give me a good idea of the best place to get a house. I have received mixed reviews, some people say stay away from Madison county, but i have grown very interested in Reeders, and Effort. I'm looking for a safe area, to raise a child. A great school system, my daughter is 4. An area with after school programs, such as dance, music, etc. Close to shopping areas, entertainment, restaurants, within at least 8 miles. I'm looking for a house within the price range of 100k-250k, with at least an acre of land. Also would any one be able to give me some information on Wayne, Pike, North Hampton, and Carbon counties. My husband is an Auto Mechanic will he have a hard time finding a job. Sorry this is so long, I'm just so excited i found the state i want to move to, now i just need to narrow it down to some specific areas, so that i at least know where to look when i go out there. Thank You, all advice and suggestions are very much appreciated.

hi guys,
I have so many questions, dont know where to start.
1st off, I would like to relocate to pa from nyc, still commuting daily to work. I need to be as close to i80 as possible.preferably e. stroudsburg section, but do to my last visit with ryan homes(beautiful community/homes by the way) everything is affordable except for the taxes bt.$6,000-12,000 a year. My fiance' are waiting to view the saw creek estates this coming monday. But i have a bad feeling about that community (while driving by being nosy, we saw like 20 deer walking around in backyards) i dont know if I can deal with that. where in pa can i go atleast 15-20 minutes away where the taxes would be cheaper but still make it to work on time?
so far we have visited lts, ryan homes, tollbrothers, rgb, kalian, precision homes, so far rgb, lts, and ryan homes are at the top of our list.
I need help, I need advice, this is hard work your responce is truly appreciated.

jane

OK first off I don't know how you can keep saying you FOUND THE STATE YOU WANT TO LIVE IN. Pennsylvania has been here for hundred years. You have know idea about price of homes, where to live and how the job market is. So WHAT REALLY DID YOU FIND. You basically just picked a different state other than NY. Not to be a downer, but you don't know if Pennsylvania meets your needs. So please wait for answers to your questions and do more research here on these forums before you go around saying YOU FOUND THE STATE. You seem to have just found a map. NOW the homework begins to find out stuff.

Also did you notice the 1 way in 1 way out. HOw do you think that is on the weekends. Parking lot!! And than even more on 209.

The taxes aren't getting any lower, even if you move 15 minutes to the left. Sorry. $5k is average for taxes.

Deer!!! HELLO you are in Pennsylvania!! Deer live among us!!
