When you say Stroudsburg, don't limit yourself to that EXACT town, check out the immediate surrounding areas too. After School stuff..hmmm.. there is a YMCA in Stroudsburg on 9th street. Also Monroe County Recreational has programs. And the Northampton Community college has activities too. There are some local places that have Karate and music lessons, but I would not have any recommendations on where to send you exactly.

The commute on a bus wears on you, but its a lot better than driving.

In addition to the bus is the NJ Transit, which has a station in Port Jervis. Daily trains from PJ into Hoboken NJ, and then you can get another train to NYC.

Mr. TUDO--- I hope you let us know if he finds a home for you.
KarenRice-- That trip from Port Jervis and then to another train, sounds extremely long!! do you commute that way or know people who do??

I wouldn't call it "extremely long!!" the train from Port to Hoboken is 2 hours and 12 minutes, and then from Hoboken it's another 14 minutes to 33rd street, via the PATHS train.
I do not commute, nor do I want to. Any drive over a half hour is too long for me.
I have taken this trip and the train is very nice and comfortable and economical (NJ transit is $18.50 round trip from Port to Hoboken on weekdays). Not sure how much the PATH fare is, as my friend got that for me.
Depending on how close one is to Port, it is a viable option.

Hemlock Farms covers three different school districts. I am familiar with two of the three: Delaware Valley and Wallenpaupack, both of which have very good reputations. As a Wallenpaupack graduate, I am biased toward Wallenpaupack. LOL
Hemlock Farms is a beautiful community but it does have amenity dues and water fees which you will need to take into consideration. There are indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, teen center, lakes, beaches etc. It is very safe and secure - there is a guard 24/7 at the main gate and nobody gets in without a pass or without being called in. security patrols the grounds 24/7. Once I was coming home from a friend's house in the middle of the night in January and got a flat tire on my way out. I had no cell phone. A security guy was going by and was able to help me!
It is a beautiful community...lots of stuff for families.

I don't know much of Hemlock farms--there was a thread a day or so ago about it. But KarenRice pretty much summed it up!!

Thanks Molly, I will but I'm also not waiting. Someone here is mailing me a copy of the local hideabout and I hope to place an ad in there as well as reach out to remax and whatever resources are available locally.
Remax found us a rental last year that was all renovated with a garage in the hideout. Unfortunately by the time they found it it was already too late for us to leave here .
This year there's plenty of time in which to look and it also appears that the market EVERYWHERE is slowing down so that's good for us
