Welcome to the world of working at a ski area.Camelback is a good place to work. The village that you will be staying at is right along side of the ski area. You will recieve a warm jacket with a hood for use as a lift operator. You will want to dress in layers underneath. Fleece pullover is a good choice over long underwear. You will want a good pair of boots that will keep your feet warm and dry. To go cheap I would recommend buying a pair of "pac" boots. They are rubber on the bottom with a leather upper and they have a removable inner boot. You can get these at Kmart or Walmart for around $40.US. You will make friends with the other lifties rather quickly and I am sure you will be able to get a ride to the grocery store and back. Every one is always looking for new friends. A warm hat and gloves will help you. After a while look into snowpants to keep you warm and to block the wind. The food discount in the cafeteria is 50% and that puts it into the price range of a normal fastfood restaurant. Day shift hours are 7-7:30 am until 5:00 pm, night shift 4:30pm until 10:00 pm. I'm sure I meet you sooner or later. Hope this helps you with some of your questions. Good Luck.

It goes to explain, this is a big problem with parents working in the city......and kids left home alone for the week. Quite interesting.........

It's truly a shame that Monroe County's police forces are becoming so overwhelmed when it has so much to offer. I'm guessing this is probably why so many of the property transfers I've been seeing the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area as of late have been to folks moving here from the Poconos. They make the first leap from NY/NJ to the Poconos, and then a second leap to SWB.

Believe me you don't want what is happening in some of these communities to happen up by you.........
You wouldn't wish it for all the world.
If you think those meetings are hot and heavy now, Whew..........
You don't want to add these problems. I am so glad I am South of all this. But, we are going to get squished, between whats up in Stroudsburg, and whats up in Easton,Allentown !

Molly,
We live in Littleton, NH, now and love the small-town lifestyle, low-crime rate, and the proximity to downhill skiing (Cannon Mt. and Bretton Woods), but unfortunately it has proven to be too expensive to build or buy a house here for us. What are the housing prospects in your area (perhaps foreclosures?), and which town(s) would you suggest for being close to decent skiing and jobs (I'm a server in a fine dining restaurant and my musician husband can do factory work if it's not too physically demanding)? We don't have children, so schools aren't a consideration, but we do need a place where we can walk our dog off her leash (she grew up a mountain dog). One last thing, we'd prefer to be not more than two - three hours from Philly.
Thank your for your help!

Pocono Summit
I know very little about Pocono Summit, other than it is part of Coolbaugh Township, which will put it in the Pocono Mountain-West School District (same as Tobyhanna). I've only driven through this area, but it seems very quiet and less congested than other parts of the county.
Actually, not all of Pocono Summit goes to Pocono Mt. West. Part of it including Stillwater Lakes is part of the East. Here's another bit of info....Anyone who goes to West can request to go to East because of the low test scores that West has produced. They shuttle the kids over.
