What are the housing prospects in your area (perhaps foreclosures?), and which town(s) would you suggest for being close to decent skiing and jobs (I'm a server in a fine dining restaurant and my musician husband can do factory work if it's not too physically demanding)? We don't have children, so schools aren't a consideration, but we do need a place where we can walk our dog off her leash (she grew up a mountain dog). One last thing, we'd prefer to be not more than two - three hours from Philly.
Thank your for your help!

Well the Poconos is about 2hours or less from Philly. PLENTY of foreclosures in Monroe County. Some are move-in condition. Lots of restaurants opening up near stroudsburg, bartonsville. Musicians are always playing at the Tannersville Inn. And there are factory jobs peppered throughout here and allentown areas. As for the dog...there are laws about walking off leash. good luck.

Then again, there are a lot of places that have 2 to 5 acres that your dog could romp on. For acreage I'd head to Brodheadsville, Kunkletown, Lehighton area..........
Then the dog would have his own roaming room.
Home prices being down, I am sure you'd find a nice home in this area.
These locations have mountains , and woods and quite a bit like NH in many ways.
There are many parks, lakes, and wonderful areas to visit with your dog also.
There is fine dining in Stroudsmoor Inn, that would be a good job for fine dining.
Skiing is all around........Boulder, Jack Frost Mt, Camelback and Shawnne are not far.
Philly is about 2 1/2 hours at the most. NYC is 1 1/2 on non commuter hours.

Ask you? if you're a teacher, lawyer, nurse or politcian you have a chance at financial independence.I've been here 18 yrs. Otherwise you're in for a rude awakening when you earn 20th century wages with 21st century expences!

Call MOTTS on 715 for snow plowing. We shoveled it last nigt. First we had to just chop with a metal shovel than scoop it off, the chopping really helped. On Thursday my car slid off the driveway and I ended up busting my power steering pump...its at Motts now... Hubby made it up the driveway in his sports car.

Ok thanks...........Motts is the word. I'm afraid with the 2" of ice we'd be flying off the side somewhere too.......
This was an unusual storm, we've had no trouble plowing before .......the ICE is the difficult part.
OK well they only do their local customers. I bet they got your car out of that mess, huh?
Well, I have a call in to a few places. I have two school plays to get to this week and one dog vet
appt.........We have usually lucked out with the plow on the tractor, plus we go away for a few months........
This ice is the kicker. Too darn thick. If I started ice choppin' I might be done by Christmas................
