Most people seem to think highly of the Hideout.
I do love that wonderful Lake Naomi.

Default Will We Have Peace????

Hi Molly,

I too am a mother. My son is 8. My partner and I currently live in Union County NJ and have experienced all kinds of discrimination against our family because we are lesbian.

We would like to relocate and someone we know recommended Milford. Cute cafes aside, how do you think we would be received in the school system???

It's really tough to see your kid ostracized for something he is not. Do you think the Poconos would be a good choice for us or do you think we should stick to Bucks County???

Hmmm...tough one. I personally have no problems...neither do my children. I have friends (couples) who are lesbians--but they don't have kids in the poconos. I really can't see the administration in Pocono Mtn S.D, having a problem....ummm cause some admin/teachers are Lesbians there. So thats my opinon. On a lighter note...my hubby says he has no problems with Lesbians either. LOL

Default On the move from NYC...

Hi Molly,
My husband and I are trying to get information on good areas in Pennsylvania to live. We live in Manhattan now trying to raise two girls 15 and 10, it is not easy. We are middle income and we are looking for a house in the Pocono area. We have no idea where to look. I grew up in the Catskills so I like quiet rural (not too rural), good schools with plenty of activities to keep them going. We would both be commuting to New York City to work everyday, I hear good and bad things about the pocono areas, can you give me a clue as to what counties to look in. I know everyone has their own personal experiences whether positive or negative but any information would help.

Thanks

ok first thing ---YOU said 10 & 15...activities to keep them going. Well if you are not home during the day --commuting to NYC ---how do you expect them to go to activities...WEEKENDS--thats a bust--cause most activities like afterschool sports have practices during the week and there are no buses to take them there to practice or home if its after school. So basiclally you will be leaving them home alone. !0 & 15 are old enough...but with nothing close by to do on their own...well thats not fun. And if you like ruralish areas...evne less than nothing to do. RETHINK THE PLAN--THE MOVE--THE JOB--THE COMMUTE.

I second that motion Mollyme!!!
I couldn't agree with you more! This is a bad plan...a very bad plan. Living up here...you need to be available for your children, there is nothing within walkable distance here for children! Any after school activites need a ton of transportation, especially sports. We are not driving down the road to sports games, sometimes they are 30 miles away or more. And what happens when you can't get home because of a storm and your kids are home alone?
