JUST curious about commuting options??

Molly laughed at you because we've been promised a commuter rail from Scranton to Hoboken, NJ now for many, many years with no visible progress. The rail will run from Scranton through Monroe County with I believe two stops there and then onwards through North Jersey to Hoboken, where you can connect to the PATH into Manhattan. I might be dead before I see this rail line operational though, and that's not saying much considering I'm 21!
I believe there's a train station in Hackettstown, NJ (about 15-20 minutes away from the Delaware Water Gap) that offers commutability to NYC.

Most people I knew who traveled by train into the city. Ones who live in the Poconos.
By-passed even the Netcong Station. Most traveled into the Dover, NJ station......I think there were more trains that just went that far and no further.
So its the long ride to Dover, then the long ride in. Not really a good daily commuting situation at all........
Yes, the laugh is because its been such a long, long, and timely tale......the TRAIN.

Forgive Me moms.
My Original Quote:
Hi Molly,
My husband and I are trying to get information on good areas in Pennsylvania to live. We live in Manhattan now trying to raise two girls 15 and 10, it is not easy. We are middle income and we are looking for a house in the Pocono area. We have no idea where to look. I grew up in the Catskills so I like quiet rural (not too rural), good schools with plenty of activities to keep them going. We would both be commuting to New York City to work everyday, I hear good and bad things about the pocono areas, can you give me a clue as to what counties to look in. I know everyone has their own personal experiences whether positive or negative but any information would help.
Okay so here is some info I left out and after I read my original post I realized I should have divulged all the details first.
Hi Molly,
My husband and I are looking for areas to consider moving to in the Pocono area with our daughters age 10 and 15. We both work in the city , I usually only have to commute to work 2-3 days a week, usually only 4 hours max, I am a freelance television producer for on air promotions. I left the full time job market 10 years ago when I had my youngest daughter. My husband works for MTA full time, he would be the one commuting full time to work daily. OUCH MOMS !!! Yes things still can happen during the course of the day but I am home when they leave for school and before they get home every day and I have been for the last 10 years. I do take the commute into consideration even the bad weather. I am fortunate enough to be able to do most of my work from home. My husband is also home 2 days during the week. I realized how my original post must have appeared to you, afer I read all the posts after yours. I am still interested if anyone wants to take a crack at helping me out.
