No, sorry, I've never been there. Perhaps my buddy Scranton-WilkesBarre has photos of the area...wait for him to reply.

hello

My myself and my family are currently going through the process of immigrating to the USA from the UK and would like to know more information about PA especially Monroe county and the Poconos Mts. I am a teaching assistant and looking to buy a childcare day centre/preschool business. We have looked the community areas in the Poconos mts ie, The hideout etc, what are your thoughts on these? What is the weather like in this area, i am fine with cold winters aslong as summers are nice - sitting on the deck with a glass of wine type weather!
Are pets allowed in these communities. I have 5 year old twins and think this sort of area seems ideal? What are schools like, granted children in uk go to school at 4 unlike USA at 6, so my children have done a year at school already, has anyone found this a problem.
Any comments welcomed or recommendations
thanks for your help

good daycares are needed in my opinon in any area. So that is a wise decision. The hideout welcomes pets. Your children and you will love the HIDEOUT if that is where you will be moving. Lots to do there.
Also in the hideout, maybe some sort of daycare hours at night or a babysitting service might be goo there too. Just keep that in mind.
Weather is what you said...winter is winter, but there is "wine weather" LOL. I would recommend a car with 4-wheel drive a necessity in the hideout.

Molly might be able to give you a better answer, but it seems as if Davis Chant Real Estate dominates the Pike County market, just judging by the volume of listings they have in that area that I see in local homes magazines.

Thanks!
Suzer to be near colleges.......your best bet would be to live south of Stroudsburg......for East Stroudsburg University ( large and very well admired)
The areas around Scranton Pa.for Marywood and Scranton Colleges
Or the Forks, Nazareth Pa. area........possiably Bethlehem for all the colleges down that way of which there are many.
Dingmans is lacking what you need with higher education.
The closest community college by Dingmans is Sussex Community College....that is in Newton, NJ. ( small community college)
Route 15 can be a mess for traveling, bumper to bumper for miles.
We stopped going to a county fair that way when the traffic jams were too much to have an enjoyable evening.
( Ps I have lived in Northern NJ (33yrs), daughters attened Sussex Community College ( one lived in Newton, NJ and also have family that attended Stroudsburg University....Now living in Pa)

Well most of the children do already write now at 5 years old. We have twins in the family. They are 6. They just wrote a ledger that was handed to their Mom at kindergarden close......full of their own written stories. The pre school boy also had a ledger with pictures drawn and also many words of his own. I live south of Stroudsburg, if you need any information........in Monroe Cty. For lower taxes go to Carbon Cty...Monroe can be high....Day care is always needed for the many families who go to work in the city. Weather is grand, nice and hot now for swimming and boating.....winters are beautiful. It is the day for you today........
good wine, sit on the porch........looking at a lake or mountain day!!!! PS pets are allowed in all of the communities. The hideout is very rural, but pretty........
You may like towamensing trails, albrightsville..........large lake, swimming, boating,pools.........nice homes, reasonable taxes, dues........

What towns would you recommend that are south/west of stroudsburg? Also, what would you consider the best schools in the area?
Brodheadsville has wonderful homes on acres they attend Pleasant Valley schools and they are wonderful schools.......Great prices, nice homes.....
Shopping areas are not that far.
