Does anyone know where they were?
Terror Suspects Arrested In N.J. After FBI Foils Fort Dix Attack A tip helped authorities arrest six men in New Jersey Monday night in connection to an apparent terror cell, according to NBC 10’s sister station WNBC in New York. Five of them were arrested in Cherry Hill, according to reports. Investigators said the men planned to use AK-47s to storm Fort Dix and open fire on soldiers and civilians stationed at the New Jersey base, noting that other military locations were scouted by the terrorist cell. Three of the unnamed suspects are brothers who are all believed to be Islamic radicals, according to sources. Some of the six arrested men were also born in Albania and the former Yugoslavia, but they have spent a significant amount of time in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to authorities. All six men were expected to face terror conspiracy charges Tuesday in federal court in Camden, N.J. Sources said the terror suspects traveled from South Jersey to the Poconos over the last few months, where they practiced firing automatic weapons. Before deciding to target Fort Dix, investigators said the group discussed targeting numerous other sites like Dover Air Base in Delaware, Fort Monmouth and several coast guard stations, according to WNBC. The station also reported that some of the suspects reviewed training films from Afghanistan that allegedly showed them how to carry out terror attacks. Fort Dix is a reserve training center, but also is home to active units, some of which focus on counter-terrorism. __________________ http://www.nbc10.com/news/13274843/d...s=phi&psp=news |

The article may mean the northern mountains of Jersey, which some people refer to as the Poconos.
In any event, you'd be surprised where suspected terrorists are. We have many small, rural communities here and my husband was told, in his firefighter training classes, that there are pockets of suspected terrorists in our sleepy little area. You just never know. |

Well by now most of you know that the "terrorists" had rented a house in
Big Bass Lake, near Gouldsboro...I got a call last night from a friend who lives in Big Bass and she said there were camera crews all over, helicopters, etc. They were interviewing neighbors and taking pictures of the house.....so sad they are right here in our backyard....My thoughts on this (and they are mine)I personally wouldn't rent a house to 6 men, and I know this will not sit well with the ACLU but I certainly wouldnt' rent a house to men who talked or looked like muslims...sorry folks, but since 9/11 I just dont' trust any of them. I wouldnt' go out of my way to be mean to them, but I just don't want any thing to do with them....and the kicker is that 3 of them are here illegally!!! what's wrong with that picture....amazing..... ![]() |

Yeah it is not far from the Mount Pocono and Tobyhanna area. After 9/11, it was disclosed that there were numerous muslim camps in the area. Like retreats, fenced in, secretive, impossible to get into. But this stuff is all over, not just here. Some scary stuff.

I was looking on the park's website and there was a warning that visitors have been finding unexploded artillary shells in the park. Nice.

Many years ago, the army used the area that the park is now on to test ammo. A big cleanup of the unexploded shells was done about 15 or so years ago (I believe they closed the whole park while it was being done). The following is what I found on their website pertaining to this:
Caution: Please Read Visitors using more remote and undeveloped areas of Tobyhanna State Park should be aware that they could encounter old, unexploded artillery shells. Three types of shells have been found in the park. The largest projectile is 18 to 24 inches in length and about 6 inches in diameter. The medium projectile is 2.5 inches in diameter and from 10 to 14 inches in length. The smallest projectile is 3 inches long and 1.25 inches in diameter. Shells are found in severely rusted condition without any recognizable markings or imprints. Their overall appearance is that of a pointed cylinder of rusted steel. Visitors encountering such items should not touch, attempt to move or otherwise disturb the items, and should call the park office and report the location to insure proper disposal. I don't see anywhere that visitors have recently found any shells. It is a warning that it is possible that you may find one in a remote or undeveloped area. If you ever visit Gettyburg, PA, you will also hear stories about how every so often they find old artillery that is buried in the fields from the Civil War. I doubt if this poses much of a danger, or these parks would be closed. |
