My friend is wondering if there are any of the police call lights
left in the city or in private hands. There used to be lamp
posts with a red signal lamp and call box on the police beats,
before radios were in wide usage. When the patrol officers
were needed, a switch would be thrown at city hall, and the
red signal lights would activate, telling the beat officers they
needed to call in.

He thinks there were all scrapped years ago, but you never
know what is in the basements and sheds of NEPA. He always
liked seeing them light up as a kid. I figure there has to be at
least one out there, somewhere. I'm working on finding a photo.
