Default Oh, no! Forbes now ranks Scranton No11 in America's Best bang for your Buck Cities

First one the best places to raise kids

Then one of the fastest recovering cities,

Now this!!!

What are the doomers going to say now!

America's Best Bang-For-The-Buck Cities - Forbes.com

and
Best Bang-For-The-Buck Cities - Yahoo! Real Estate

Foreclosures in Scranton, Pa., (No.11) for example, fell 50% in October from the previous year, and home prices are expected to appreciate .03% three years out (a forecast better than 75% of major metros). And there's at least one good reason to settle there: It has the third-lowest travel time to work of all the metros we measured.

Nice to see Scranton getting such good press and ratings from Forbes. Too bad it's lost on most who are more focused on City Council going to Hollywood which in my opinion is an obscene shame.

Employment is stable because there are no new jobs being added. No one will move here to enjoy the most "bang for their buck" because they can't get a job when they move here.

It's nice to see Scranton getting some good press. It's also nice to see people standing behind their city.

I do doubt the job market though. I commute to Binghamton everyday for work. I've been looking to work back in the Scranton area for two years now with little luck. That could be because of the field I work in though.

I can say that the quality of life in the Scranton area is way better than even Binghamton, which is why I haven't relocated. It has to be one of the most depressing areas I've ever stepped foot in. Everything is boarded up and tired looking, especially right in the downtown area.

Scranton is a good bang for your buck, if you can find liveable wages.....that's a huge IF. The cheap housing will do you no good if you're only making 8 bucks an hour.

I'd like to see Forbes do a ranking of the most corrupt areas areas in the country. Lackawanna and Luzerne counties would definitely sit near the top of that list.

The sad truth is as far a corruption goes, I doubt Lackawanna and Luzerne would even make the top 20.

Actually the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre metro was ranked, not just the city of Scranton.
