I know some of my neighbors speak somewhat poorly of them, but I think it was mainly having to do with taxes Vs teacher pay. Almost none of the teachers there actually live in the city and are apparently very well paid... As for the quality of education your kids would receive, I have no idea really so that's probably not helpful.

I've likewise heard nothing but bad things about Greater Nanticoke Area's public schools. Sorry! For what it's worth, the new Holy Redeemer High School (Catholic) will be enrolling its first class in nearby Wilkes-Barre this Fall, and Wyoming Seminary (Private) in Kingston is among the best private schools in NEPA. The neighboring school district of Hanover Area likewise has a "sketchy" reputation. I'm sorry I couldn't be the undying optimist I usually am, but I simply can't discredit all of the negative remarks I've heard my peers make about those two school districts.

Default Dont do it!!

We moved out of the Nanticoke area - we lived in Wanamie - primarily due to the awful school district. Their graduation numbers are horrible and they have a huge drug problem. May I ask ... Why Nanticoke?

We are looking at all of our options and Nanticoke seems like a nice neighborhood.

How long ago did you move away from Nanticoke? Was your experience with the schools with grammar, middle or high school?

Thanks,

Dave

We moved out last summer. My daughter was just starting grammar school, but after talking to our neighbors who had kids in middle and high school, we decided to get out before she even started. Nanticoke itself has alot of potential and you could get a good deal on a house there, but they have a looong way to go and are in serious financial trouble.

Ivan-1,you have some interesting opinions,Thanks for that.I would be interested in hearing more of your thoughts on Nanticoke and surrounding areas.
We own homes in both The Poconos and Moosic. We will not send our children to The Pocono Mountain school district. We are considering The Riverside school district or a relocation to Nanticoke.
We have friends In Nanticoke and as outsiders find it to be a nice neighborhood of hard working people,at least this is the impression we get from visiting friends and meeting neighbors of theirs.Again I look forward to hearing more opinions and experiences. We will be making our decision the end of June.
Thanks
