Siamsa in Stroudsburg is somewhat new and very nicely decorated and even has comfortable snugs- however, watch when you go. It becomes something like a nightclub depending on the day and time. When they first opened, some friends and I went to see a terrific Irish band. I think that was the last time they held up to being an "Irish Pub." Now, it's crowded with scantily clad drunken college students dancing to the latest in hip hop. Definitely makes them money - they're overpriced as it is - but the environment isn't what one would expect from a traditional pub.

If you're ever headed south though, check out Brittingham's on the Germantown Pike near Philadelphia. Fantastic place, great food, and terrific music!

I would recommend checking out Dugan's Pub on Union St (well right where Union St turns into Main St) in Luzerne. It is very small and quaint often times with live Irish music upstairs. The food is excellent (I'd try the Guiness Pizza) and the staff actually know how to pull a real Guiness, in imperial pints. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Being female, I wouldn't even mind going there alone. Its a great place where there isn't too much going on. They don't buy into all of the nonsense that alot of the other local Irish pubs do. Its a very homey and friendly place. You should check it out! If you are coming from W-B or Scranton, get on 309 and get off at the Luzerne exit. Take a right and it will be the greenish building on your right a few blocks up. Its worth it!
