Not surprising since they didn't go up last year.

Is it customary for the tax payers to pay taxes on pensions, or is it Commonwealth funded?

Well, that I don't know but either way you slice it, ultimately it's going to come from the tax payers, whether we pay it to the Commonwealth or whether we pay it to the district.

Strange that no one commented on the fact that the taxes stayed at their current level this year. I thought that was a very commendable accomplishment for the district in light of the current economic conditions. If you read the article, it also says that the percentages stated would be the "worst case senario", and could possibly be less.

We are not paying Taxes on pensions, we are paying the pensions and the cost of those pensions have gone up. That is what they are saying. We are also paying for increases in the teachers salaries, and other things. It is normal that we pay for the teachers pensions, yes. I do feel that due to the difficult times everyone is having they should try to keep those costs as low as they can. I hope these increases are not due to raises, since very few have had raises these past few years.
