HI, My name is Kris, My family is relocating to near Mountain Top PA, from Arizona. We are a middle income family and have 4 daughters. We do not care for the city life and are looking for a safe area with good school districts to reside in. The place my husband will be working is located in/near Mountain Top but we are willing to commute 30 miles or so to work. School test scores are not of great importance, I believe you get out of an education what you put into it. My main concern is that the schools are SAFE. I have 2 daughters in elem and 2 daughters in middle school. I have been told to avoid Willsbarre school district, but the reasoning was not made clear. If anyone could let us know the areas that are safe and also the areas to avoid, I would be so greatful. Also, we are looking to rent a home, any Realtors feel free to make suggestions. Thank You For Your Time, Kris

You have posted and posted the same thing .. at least 3 times.

I don't think there is enough information to give a real answer ..

I understand wanting a good school but .. there are also other issues that make life grand.
There is also .. what can you budget ?? Do you want public schools only ?

If you live in the MtTop area .. will you need to drive into the valley ..
Please know that rt 309 can feel like a luge in winter
RT 81 is heavy traffic and packed with 18 wheelers.
Will your children need to drive any time soon?

What other things are important?
Do you like skiing?
Shopping?
Libraries?
Will you be looking for work ??

Does the company your husband is moving to have a human resource department that can help?
Are they members of any chamber of commerce group?
The C of C can be a treasure trove of "Quality of Life" info ..

Are renting until you find your ideal spot to purchase ?
.

But you don't have to drive 81 to get into the valley area. I lived in Mt Top for 5 years. It is a very safe area. Crestwood schools are great. I am not sure it gets much safer than Mt. Top. And you are not far from great shopping, and lots for the kids to do.

Mt. Top is beautiful. And as the other poster said as safe as they come. If you don't mind higher taxes for a good school, then Crestwood is a really good school. I live in the general Mt. Top area. I love it up here. It's cooler in the summer. I harldy ever use AC.

I'd avoid Wilkes-Barre schools at all costs and for too many reasons to mention. Back mountain is nice too =Dallas school district. But since he's working in Mt. Top, I'd go there.
