Hi all I am moving to Scranton this summer for grad school starting in fall, and I am wondering what the best way is to go about looking for and finding a job. More specifically, I am a librarian (just completed my MLS) and so ideally I would love to find full time library work...if not full time, then part time. In addition, the program I'm starting in fall is a teacher certification K-12 program specializing in library science (i.e. essentially this will enable me to get hired as a school librarian)...as such, I would be open to a school/teaching job as well, however I am aware that this is less likely until at least half of my teacher certification is complete. Private schools could be an option though. Does anyone have any advice/tips/resources for this kind of job search? Even info on job searching in general (all fields) would be helpful, because if I am unable to find library work, I will have to find some kind of work that will give me an income. Thanks in advance!

Academic 360, a higher education recruitment site, offers a section of the site for various specializations, here is the section for Library Science, where there are many professional organizations that post job listings:

I don't know if you can survive on this rate of pay, but the schedule would work well with a Teacher Ed program:

I don't know if you've considered it, but The Commonwealth Medical College also has a few openings on its web site for librarians as well. It might be worth scoping out.

If she wants to wait a few years for a job......They haven't even purchased the land for the school yet.

Well they're still paying their staff regardless though. Most of those whom they've already hired for their faculty have already purchased homes (99.9% of them in the Abingtons I'm sad to say). If I could be hired as a librarian and get paid to sit around on my rear-end, I'd take it!
