Let's see when I lived there the flea market was a nightmare on weekends. I understand that's gone,
only to move to a smaller plot of land by St. John's Church...Stupid, putting it on that little piece of
land....They burned the Old bugle boy store....at Foxmoor village, which when it opened was oh so nice,
they had a movie theater, a restaurant, a bagel shop, a craft store, Libby's glass, I loved doing some
shopping there...but little by little the area changed and they destroyed that little mall, put up more
fast food places on 209, the area has changed and not for the better...I do hope in the future they can
turn it around again...My sons went to East Stroudsburg High school...which is now the "south" campus
since the influx of more students they needed to build another high school in bushkill...why they called
it the "north:" campus and not just made it another name is beyond me....You have some slum lords in
East burg who owned section 8 houses and didn't give a damn who he rented to they ruined that town
too....shame, nice little University there, but I wouldn't send my kids to college there, the area is
disgusting....and yes there are gangs and wanna bee's.....again, no supervision of these kids in the
gated communities....I blame the parents,......some of them were gone in the city all week, left the kids
to fend for themselves since they knew the buses would pick them up for school...during the week...not
a great situation....School district finally got wise to that, but I'm sure it's still going on....Pa. is a
beautiful state and there are a lot of nicer areas....so shop around...

I'd have to disagree. I worked as security in Lake of the Pines back in 1998 / 1999, and it was getting bad then. Later, I worked as a police officer in Monroe County, and the State Police are always dealing with trouble from Lake of the Pines.

I guess a "bad" area is relative to your expectations. If you're a transplant from Newark, NJ, then LOTP is quiet country to you.

I've lived in LOP for the past 10 years. It's often referred to as "Lake of the Crimes". Taxi drivers have told me that they are very wary about entering. According to realtor sites, there are currently at least 50 houses for sale and 4 current forclosures. I wouldn't have moved there if I'd have known. Can't wait to get back to Jersey!

Rent it out to section 8 .. Pick your tenants . Dont be scared . Get tough .. Let the house pay for itself .. In a few yrs the market will pick up and you'll cash in .( sell to someone from Da Bronx or Brooklyn.. Dont quit .. Find a solution ..
