Is it possible to know how the weather varies among different communities north or south of I-80 in the winter? Is it possible to know the general elevations of the communities as well - assuming that one gets more winter where it is higher - and possibly more trapped?

We're just looking for sources or personal info regarding picking towns between I-80 Exits 309 and Exit 293 on the interstate - is it possible to generalize about better or worse conditions in winter - need to get to I-80 for work.

Thanks in advance.

if only it were true. going in snow is fine..but the ice we have been getting has been awful... i have the bmw x-drive awd with blizzak snows and ice and slush are still treacherous.
then there is also everyone else out their driving sliding into you in the slush and snow.

Yes the weather can vary tremendously. I used to live on top of Mt Effort off of 115, it was considered Blakeslee. Down the hill was a different world weather wise. We had a ton more snow and fog, it was a diffferent world up there. 10 minutes down the road and the snow wasn't as bad. It sometimes snowed on top of the mountain and they only had rain down the mountain, so yes elevation can play a big role in the weather.
