I see where you're trying to go here, but I don't think there were any immigration laws in "The New World" back in the 1600s, I might be mistaken though, someone could correct me. Was it right what the people back then did to the Natives, no it wasn't but there has been many things done by the US gov't. to try and fix things done by the first European settlers here. There is however immigration laws today, which many knowing and willing choose not to follow, oh well, life goes go.

DaSkorpion - I hope about 150 of them descend on your street (that would be about in about 1 dozen houses. Then you will see what the others mean.

And don't think it can't happen. Good luck getting out of your driveway.

Default An Arizonan's opinion

I live near Phoenix, AZ, so I have a lot of experience with Hispanics, both legal and illegal.
As for them being noisy, in general they are quite noisy. It is part of the culture. I am living in an apartment now, and Mexicans live below me, so I know. They also tend to have a lot of people staying there a short while, and moving on. They avert their faces and rush inside when they see you, and they don't speak a word of English. Are they legal?
This is not diversity;it is an invasion. I have lived in Mexico, and the villages are being destroyed, the families composed of women and children, because the young men come up here. Plenty of people "make it" in Mexico. Others don't wish to try. It is easier to cross the border.
Also, no one seems to have addressed the fact that these are Indian Mexicans who mostly come. The natives here are having a terrible problem with their invasion of tribal lands, and the horrible amount of trash left everywhere, dogs and cattle slaughtered, people murdered and raped.
Mexican friends have told me the prisons are being emptied out, and coyotes hired to transport criminals up here.
Diversity is being shoved down our throats, whether we want it or not.
Don 't let Scranton, or Pennsylvania become another Arizona.

Yeah Lakewooder - 150 of them on my street wouldn't be a problem because I lived in Parsippany for over a decade and all of a sudden we started having an influx of Indians all over were they all legal - no - I do not think so. Also for your information I have seen and heard about people lying to get legal isn't that a crime as well but no it seems okay as long as you are legal.

You even have employees of the government who have become visa contractors helping illegals to get jobs, houses etc. I personally know someone who came to this country as an illegal he paid to get his bachelor's and masters degree from a top college in the US without ever attending one class, he also paid to get his greencard by lying - where is he now you may ask he is a CEO for a top financial institution.

The point I was trying to make is somebody somewhere thought it was fine to tolerate these illegals because we could put them to work - guess what when these people get deported who do you think gets to pay for their return fare me and you my friends.

This illegal situation goes way back...the Italians, Irish etc all came flooding to America seeking greener pastures...they were illegals yes - did most of them come here illegally yes, were there criminals among them yes (mafia etc) so why did nobody call for a reform back then.

The point you guys are failing to see is that this illegal problem has been around since way back - people talk about assimilating these illegals what exactly is stopping you from this assimilation process oh I forgot somebody somewhere thought it was okay to make spanish a second language (correct me if am wrong). There are illegals flooding England as well but did the British government decide to opt for a second language heck no its either you speak english and get with the program or get out of the program.

We don't need anymore diversity. We have quite enough now. And the immigrants who came here in the early 1900's weren't illegal. My grandfather came over from Italy and went through Ellis Island and got his papers. He also learned English. That is not so with these Mexicans today.

As an immigrant who has been here for 20 years I think I am qualified to talk here. We came here, spoke english, worked hard, assimiliated into the american way of life, became a success by hard work and keeping our money. We worked as nannies, in car wash's, as tree sprayers, worked for below minimum wage some days.

But we didnt have children, didnt parade for our rights, didnt hang around on street corners in groups, didnt sponge off the government, didnt send our money home, didnt make other people scared to walk by our groups, didnt refuse to speak the spoken language.

Funny thing ; when you go for a green card, it is required that you speak english. So how come they have translators do assist people? How come the signs are in english and spanish.

In the schools here on Long Island, it seems that you can get more services if your parents are illegal, do not speak english, and do not pay taxes. If your parents are citizens, pay their taxes, speak the language, you get nothing even if it is badly needed.

My opinion is ; the amount of people entering the armed forces is dropping. Let those people who are hanging on the streets sign up for the army for 3-4 years, teach them english, pay them a salary and then at the end of their service if they stay for the whole 3-4 years, reward them with a work permit.
Just my two cents worth. and by the way, where my office is ; I am staring at groups of these illegals all day.

Where do you come off saying that we do not need anymore diversity? I love how people in this country are descendants of immigrants, and have the nerve to decide who and who should not be able to come in. None of you are aware of the desperation that illegal immigrants must face to leave their families, cross the border, face extreme hostility by people, who have been in this country for four generations or less. Immigrants are coming to work and provide for their families. They are not coming to rob you, speak loudly just to annoy you, or steal your jobs. My family has been in this country since 1761, and has seen many waves of immigrants, including many of the European immigrants who feel they somehow have the right to express hostility toward a group of people who are coming here expressly for the same reason as their ancestors. Please don't forget the nasty attitudes that the Irish, Italian, and other European immigrants faced from other whites and blacks in this country when they first arrived. Sure, the immigrants arriving during the 1840s through the 1920s placed a HUGE burden on the United States government. Much like the illegal "aliens" that you talk about, many of the early immigrants lived 10+ to a three bedroom apartment, spoke in a foreign tongue and "took" the jobs that were previously occupied by existing whites and blacks.

I guess it's part of the assimilation process to pretend that you're somehow better than whatever new wave of immigrants are coming in. Please stop polluting this board with your racist viewpoints under the guise of calling the illegal immigrants criminals. Referring to all immigrants as "these Mexicans" just shows the ignorance the you possess. There are illegal immigrants from all over the world in this country, if you are going to target one group, please target them all.

Face it, immigrants do the work that Americans will do, for much lower wages. As long as that's the case, immigrants, legal and illegal, will keep coming in. It has been the way for generations, and building walls around the border, or putting a gate in the Atlantic and Pacific is not going to stop people from coming here. Please get off of your soapbox, thinking that you are above people. If you don't like diversity, oh well, it's not going to end in this country. If it bothers you so much you can just move to another country. You won't be missed.
