Default Arlington Apartment Search

Alright, you've all been a lot of help so far with my apartment search. I'm coming to Arlington this Friday to find a place... so please, if you have any suggestions for apartments that I should check out, let me know!!

I'm looking for a two-bedroom apartment, and can spend up to ~$2000 (if utilities are included... if not, then I need to spend a little less). I also need to be either near a metro or near a metro bus stop that will take me to the metro.

Here are a few I've looked into online and have called... if any stand out to you as being in a bad part of town, PLEASE let me know!:
Myerton
Archstone Columbia Crossing
Horizons Apartments
Park at Arlington Ridge
Dominion Plaza
Avalon at Arlington Square

I haven't called these places yet, so I'm not sure about their price ranges: Shawnee apartments, Library Courts, Ballston Park, Arlington Blvd Apartments, Ten Twenty North Quincy, Park Carlyn, Avalon at Ballston-Washington, Glen Ayr, Fort Strong, River House.

Thanks for all your help... hopefully as of this weekend I will have a place to live!

I lived at Ten Twenty (1020) North Quincy Street about 5 years ago, and although the comments on apartmentratings.com aren't super-positive, the building is worth checking out. It's a quirky, older building with lots of tenants that have been there 100 years, but it's in the heart of Ballston--right across the street from a great public library and near lots of restaurants, bars, shopping etc. It's also a short walk to the metro. Our 2 bedroom apartment was about $1300 including utilities when we left in 2001. If you want to live in a safe, fun area, this is one of the best bargains around. However, it is NOT luxurious in any sense of the word.
Library Courts is adjacent to 1020 and is a very different animal. Much newer, nicer and more plush--but much more expensive.

Avalon at Arlington Square is nice...but the community has a roach problem. You probably wont awake to 100's of roaches everyday, but you will definately seen a critter running accross your carpet, or walls here and there! The roach problem is a result of of the community having been built on a parcel of land that was previously a low-income community, that didn't recieve the pest-control, etc that it should've had. Prior to the Avalon being built they soil was treated with a lot of pesticide, etc...but it still didn't kill all the roach eggs!
