Figure however long it takes you to get to Tyson's Corner Mall, add ten minutes for additional driving, and another 15 for parking & hiking in to the venue, and another 5-10 to find a place for your picnic spot.

Also keep in mind that gates open 90 minutes before start time for lawn seating, so if you're planning on getting a good seat, best to get there well in advance. (If you've got reserved seating, then weezycom's got it.)

I drove by the exit to Wolf Trap at 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening and the line of cars sitting on the toll road waiting to exit at Wolf Trap extended nearly all the way back to the toll plaza. I am sure many of those people wished they had left a little earlier and were watching the beginning of the show rather than sitting on the toll road.

Teebyrd is right that it totally depends on where you are coming from. We live in Vienna and it is quite quick. I imagine Alexandria or South Riding would be more of a hike. And do heed the parking warnings - if nothing else, it takes a little while to walk from the parking to the performance area.

I'm sorry but this really is a silly question. What time do you leave NOVA to get to Wolftrap. Wolftrap is in NOVA. Where are you coming from to get to Wolftrap? That is the big question.

Default my silly question

Okay, after reviewing a map due to VaFan, YES, I totally agree, I posted a silly question. I had interchanged NOVA and Arlington in my head when I posted.

The drive took an hour to get to the concert due to traffic on 66 and then parking near the event. Not too bad, but now I see parking is a bigger challenge than I thought it would be. Very nice place for an outdoor concert!!
